Fair but needs improvement
I advised the staff in the morning that the remote to the TV was missing and they said they will locate it or purchase a universal remote. When I went back in the evening neither happened and they advised I should use the buttons on the TV. The TV could not be operated with the buttons on the TV except to switch on and off. The rooms have fans and not airconditioning which is not great when its summer and you are in Nelspruit. Further the fan in the lounge did not work. When you switched it on there is an electrical fault and it trips the lights. While cutlery is provided in the kitchen there is no mugs or plates or any other cooking utensils. The unit was cleaned during our stay but no clean towels were left. I had to request from reception.

Horrible, terrible and discusting, have stayed at much cheaper pleaces that was by far better than this! Will never return or recommend to anyone!

Unforgettable bad moments
I have never been in such bad and noisy place. Water leak in the toilets, doors falling down, every thing clearly negleted. Old construction, any step done on the ground up I could hear from my apartment. Parking area under the badroom windows, I could take not of all car arrival time over the both night. Really bad.

Bathroom was very bad need to upgrade. Basin did not have a tap. Shower tap also did not work when I informed the staff member at the front desk he only pulled up he's shoulders like its normal and looked at me like it is suppose to be like that. It is now a week later and nobody from Sunset has phoned me

Amaizing views
The staff was very friendly and professional, and the location is very nice and private with amazing views of Nelspruit, depending on your room choice, but for the overall impression of Sunset Manor - the pool were very dirty (even after the rains - not suppose to last for a whole week like that), the rooms are very outdated and it feels dirty although it is not- there was a stain on my bedding (linen) and really old and the pillows are worn out - I rather used my own - I will suggest a nice paint over and nice thorough clean of all the wood fixtures and walls, upholstery and curtains to be repaired or replaced, the views are amazing, but the balconies and appliances are not in good condition at all - I am not someone who complains easily, this is just some constructive feedback to improve on small things overall to make guests come back again - you have so much potential - some new linen, nice paint job and crack fillings, nice clean of fixtures and upholstery and curtains, some new crockery (cups, glasses, teaspoons etc.. can make one feel to enjoy a cup of coffee again - ) this is very important for most guests and can be a great asset to your business if changed or updated regularly - thank you to all the friendly staff, really appreciated this - keep up the good work!

The worst place in the world!
I hated the all experience, I booked two nights, but it was impossible to sleep in that hotel, unprofessional staff, dirty rooms, any safety in the place! Please don't go there, even if the price is fine or a little lower than other hotels. I would like to ask Expedia, to take out this place from the website, because I always had a good impression and experience with all the programs I have booked with Expedia, but this one last reservation, left me really sad and disapointed! Hope you guys take the better solutions, for your costumers....

Budget accommodation.
The kitchen was not properly clean which made us doubt on the cleanliness of the bedding. But we were so tired from the trip we went straight to sleep. The place is very run down needs a little of attention.

Convenient and clean
The room that we occupied was next to the pathway to the reception. Everyone talking outside the room was clearly audible. Also during the stay, the guests that were in the reception area were so noisy that we managed to fall asleep after they had left at 12 midnight. Also, the room did not have any place to put any clothes on. Also the shower did not have any shower head. The receptionist managed to get the shower-head from somewhere after we reported this to him. Lastly, on arrival, the receptionist did not have any knowledge that we were coming. My name was not on the guest list on hotel's computer. Only when I showed him the booking email from internet with the reservation number that he became aware of the booking. Luckily, there was one spare room that was available and it was given to us.

The views were good, the staff were good, a little run down, pool needed cleaning, couldn't go out onto the balcony as it was padlocked, no fridge but it was a good size room.

Nice area and quiet. Old furniture with no air conditioning and really noisy ceiling fans. Breakfast is served from 07:00 to 09:00, I showed up at 09:08 and everything was cleared and I had to sit a reception to use the wifi

Hotel wurde über Expedia gebucht, bei der Ankunft wusste aber keine etwas von der Buchung. Mit der ausgedruckten Reservierungsbestätigung war das dann aber kein Problem. Hotel liegt in Mbombela auf einer Anhöhe. Das einzig schöne dort ist der Ausblick. Ziemlich abgewohntes Hotel auch die Zimmer ziemlich abgewohnt und teilweise dreckig. Wir waren die "einzigen" Gäste dort. Wundert uns ehrlich gesagt nicht.

Older hotel in nice location
Hotel accomodations are ok. It is an older hotel with steel windows and doors. It is not a quiet place to stay as you hear room noise as well as everything going on outside the rooms. It is very clean but due to ventilation problems my bathroom smelled like a gymnasium shower room. I even ran the fan all night and it still smelled the same in the morning. One tile was broken on the floor in the shower as well. TV was an older version that only got about 6 channels.

I've given the lowest rating based on my booking not being fulfilled. Either 'hotel.com' did not notify the lodge of my completed booking or the lodge accepting more bookings than rooms available.I was forced to stay at another location with a lower rating... so I paid for something I didn't even receive.

Get what you pay for
Price very reasonable - guess you get what you pay for. Carpet dirty, smell in bathroom. Beautiful view from verandah.

Wir waren für eine Nacht im Sunset Manor. Leider gab es schon beim Check In Probleme: die Buchung über Expedia konnte nicht gefunden werden - nach einer Stunde hat es dann geklappt. Das Zimmer war recht dunkel, so dass wir zunächst die Flecken auf dem Teppich nicht gesehen haben. Der schimmelige Duschvorhang ist uns leider erst am nächsten Tag aufgefallen... Die Krönung war allerdings das Frühstück - das wir auch noch zusätzlich bezahlt haben. Zur Begrüßung gab es keinen "guten Morgen" sondern die Frage, ob wir etwa frühstücken wollen. Hätten wir gesehen, was es gab, wäre uns wohl diese erfahrung erspart geblieben. Es gab 3 Teller auf einer Warmhalteplatte: 1. Teller: angetrocknetes Spiegelei, 2. Teller: Schinken, 3. Teller: verkohlte Würstchen... dann noch Saft, den man mit gechlortem Wasser (aus der Leitung) getreckt hatte. Das Kaffewasser war eiskalt, so dass sich der lösliche Kaffe nicht auflösen konnte. erst auf Nachfrage (und nach Suchem eines Zuständigen), gab es wortlos eine Porzellankanne mit Wasser. Tost war okay. marmelade gab es nicht. Never again!

Don't stay here if you value your life!!!
My wife and I arrived on a lightly drizzling day at Sunset Manor after making a reservation through Expedia. Upon approaching the hotel it is not clear where even the front desk is since the placement of the sign is ambiguous. I slipped to the left of the entry thinking that one part of the hotel was the reception which turned out to be an exposed brick stairwell leading up to the rooms. Upon discovering my confusion I attempted to walk down the stairwell. However, the stairs were exceedingly slippery and I fell and kept falling. My laptop which I was carrying in my hand because it had my reservation information on it slipped out of my hand and clattered down as many stairs. After waiting for the shock and the pain to subside I got back up to my feet. I examined the stair case and found that there is no reasonable way for anybody to expect the stairs to be as dangerous as they were. There is a railing on one side of the staircase but it is wide and made from the same slick bricks as the stairs. Thus even if I could have reached the railing it likely would have provided very little assistance. Eventually, bleeding and in great pain I made it to the front desk to find that the hotel had overbooked. We would need to stay at a hotel up the road. The night-shift man on duty at the time who had seen the accident through the cameras and now saw me bloody and bruised told me, ‘it is very common for people to fall’.

Very dissapointed at what awaited us on our arrival at this hotel. Not the same as the pictures shown on the internet. Poor overall condition of the Lodge. Furnishings were in poor state of disrepair. Seemed more like a hostel than a Lodge.
