Great amenities and activities but

Posted 21-Apr-2018
The location and views are fantastic. This was the second time we have stayed there. Housekeeping was borderline. On our third day our room was not cleaned until I called at 5:15 pm. The maid did not arrive for another 45 minutes. Each day the cleaning went downhill and we left a gratuity each day— except for the the day they skipped us. The spa was wonderful. Due to the location we will return.

Great Family Vacation

Posted 20-Apr-2018
We stayed at Sheraton Maui for 4 nights and had a great time. The facilities were well kept and clean. Concierge folks were especially helpful giving good advice without sucking money out of us. The resort is by the Black Rock, a great snorkeling site where we spotted sea turtles. You need to be ready to pay a mandatory $25 fee for internet, etc. and $23 for self-parking DAILY which adds up at the end. Also, when I asked for the “free” tote which is part of the $25 fee, I was sent to a resort salesperson, who tried to talk us into having a “tour” of their new resort. Overall, we liked the resort, though.

Best Location for Snorkel Addicts

Posted 20-Apr-2018
Where to start....Well, things kicked off well the minute we arrived at the hotel when the desk receptionist was kind enough to upgrade us to an ocean view. The caveat, of course, was that it was the last building they are still renovating (building 3 overlooking the pool/ocean). There was some modest noise during the day, when we were briefly in our room, but no noise at night. No harm done. I loved the pillows! For someone who sleeps on my stomach these were a welcome reprieve vs the traditional hotel stay. The Sheraton is located literally on Black Rock beach, so you have the opportunity to get there a bit early before the water clarity sours from the tide and people. I lothe seeing people climb on the coral rocks trying to scale the main rock people used to jump off, but that’s society for you. Anyway, I snorkeled probably 2 hours every day. Go buy snorkeling gear at ABC Stores near the Westin hotel (the shopping center with Hula Restaurant) - costs about $35 and well below the $20 you’ll spend each day for a rental. I probably saw 2 dozen turtles, dozens of trumpet fish and other amazing reef species. I ended up deep sea fishing, and the hotel was nice enough to accommodate the fillets I brought back. The Blackfish Grill was phenomenal. Special shout out to the cook, Zac!

Close the beach

Posted 9-Apr-2018
Place, beach and restaurants ok. What I was dissapointed was “bedding not confirmed” policy - hadn’t noticed that when making the reservation (didn’t believe that Sheraton or Expedia even using this option) - what a surprise when you’ll get double bed even when you’re a couple and have the worst from the worst - basement near noisy elevator and nobody warn you that reconstruction is happening above your floor (drill from 9am). Promise that you will be moved next day - after complainig - is very unexpected and unlikely. New room ok and nice, but lost one day of vacation and bad mood.

Great resort on the beach

I had a great time with Sheraton. The grounds and pools are kept amazing. Right on the beach and close to whalers village which was awesome! Gym is a bit small but early in the morning no one is there!

Dated hotel. Furniture in room shabby.

Very disappointed in value for price. Food mediocre and high priced. Price for beach chairs and umbrella exorbitant ($45 per day in addition to resort fee). Very slim beach which seemed overrun by islanders. I would not choose again

Beachfront Paradise

Posted 19-Mar-2018
My husband I spent three nights in Hilo and then flew to Maui for three nights. We quickly realized three nights was not nearly enough time to enjoy this beautiful resort. When we arrived, the only room available was an ocean view with two double beds, but Gabriel at the front desk offered to upgrade our room since it was our honeymoon and moved us to an ocean view king sized bed as soon as it was available. Hotel staff came to move our bags for us and everything. Gabriel even remembered us and where we were from when we checked out - he was great! People complain about the resort fees, parking fees, etc but our stay was worth every penny. Parking is in a garage so you know car is safe - I was happy to pay the fee. Resort fees include a shuttle to Lahaina which was nice to not have to worry about parking. The beach was clean and views were beautiful. Close to lots of shopping in Whaler's Village and Lahaina's front street. Room needed some updating but renovations are currently underway. Rooms were very large with large balcony. Everything you need is at the resort - pools, hot tub, fire pit, beach, and multiple places to eat. Overall, would definitely stay again.

Hotel is very clean, and the staff is very helpful and courteous. The location is perfect with beach access and nice walking area along the beach as well. Good restaurants on the property and well kept grounds and pool areas.

Bad hotel

Posted 13-Mar-2018
We were dropped off at the back of the hotel there was NO bell hops to help and no one to give directions. The food from the shack restaurant wasn't good, had asked for a well cooked meat pattie on a burger and it was almost raw when I told the waiter he just said sorry it wasn't cooked properly and walked away. The meat pattie was very bland NO taste. We had trouble with our toilet over flowing they came and unclogged the toilet but didn't clean the bathroom. We asked that the bathroom be cleaned but it wasn't done. Then a few hours later the same thing happened again they unclogged it, wiped the floor with a few towels and left. NEVER did they come and clean the toilet, walls or the floors and as for washing a floor NON existent. It was a lot of hard work for housekeeping staff and they wouldn't do their jobs. NOT a healthy place to stay. The beds were terrible very uncomfortable. I couldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.
