Great staff, the view is fantastic. Just needs updating. Same as it was in rooms 11 yrs ago. The furniture is very worn.

Our room had gorgeous views from the fifth floor,o

Pros: View and convenience of activities.
Cons: More guest information. Lower food costs. Late check-out at less than a full days extra cost. We ate maybe two meals at the resort in TWO weeks .
Location: Did most of the Tourist items, Whale watch, snorkeling, dinners out, Whalers Vlliage where we found far less expensive food(Breakfast items) lunches,
Food was very over priced and we really had minimal to zero information from staff. Resort Fee is a terrible idea and was not really explained as to reason. Had to extend check-out a day because our flight was at 11:15 PM and the hotel gave us no alternatives except to pay $550.00 plus to remain in our rooms until evening.

Moldy

Posted 20-Jan-2018
The hotel room smelled like mold and the decor was from 1970. The hotel charged an extra $30 a day for parking and $25 a day for a resort fee both of which are outrageous. The resort fee was all stuff nobody of this day and age uses if one has an iPhone. The hotel was a rip-off with all its extra fees..... I’ve had better service at a Quality Inn.

hotel condition

Pros: great service and food in restaurant. Beautiful grounds
Cons: Pool staffing for making sure enough chairs are available
Location: Perfect location with a lot of activities to do
good experience, hap hazard in getting around (several different levels which takes a few elevators),very dated hotel. Pool are congested, not enough lounge chairs with cushions.Pool staff not policing the saved lounge chairs in pool area (I think 30 to 60 minute limit of being saved).

Nice enough, serious beach erosion

Posted 17-Jan-2018
This is my third stay at the Sheraton. A large portion of the hotel is undergoing a large and much needed facelift. Since my last visit the resort slightly retreated behind the amenities of the Westin and the Hyatt. The grounds and common areas are a little shopworn and the rooms are indeed comfortable but lack basic conveniences like utensils, and plates. Furniture was sticky. The service was nice though. The biggest change is not the hotels doing: rising water levels and more extreme tides, probably due to climate change has eroded black rock beach to the level of reaching the planted walkways and causing them to collapse in places. The photo I have posted is from 1/14/2018. It shows how high the tide is coming up. I compared it to the same vantage point of images shot at the same timeframe in 2014, and the comparisons are striking. There is not much beach left. Eventually, the entire area will need to invest in millions of dollars for either beach restoration or a permanent sea wall. If not, in another 20 years, the pool will be in the ocean. Will we stay there again? Maybe. But after the resort is updated and the beach stabilized.

Beach front

Posted 12-Jan-2018
Pros: Quieter area away from Whalers village.
Location: Good location two good beaches within a short walk.Whalers village within walking distance where there is restaurants and shopping.
Beautiful beach front area, sadly the water was high so some of the beach was lost.

Second class citizens at Sheraton if using Expedia

Posted 9-Jan-2018
Pros: The pool staff, particularly Donna, was amazing! She was personable and friendly as were Tasha and Aaron. Our concierge, Jeffrey, was great too!
Cons: When a customer complains Management should see it through to the end and confirm all issues have been resolved.
Location: We had amazing adventures from snorkeling and whale watching to a helicopter tour and zip lining. Great restaurants and amazing scenery!
Upon checking in on Christmas Day, we were told our room preference for two double beds could not be accommodated as we booked through Expedia and bedding is not guaranteed. We felt like second class citizens based on booking through a "third party." We paid for a deluxe ocean view room and were placed in a ground floor room with a King size bed and roll out for my family of four with no view of the ocean due to the large shrubs outside the sliding door. We even called several days before our arrival to make our preferences known. While it says on the site the bedding can't be guaranteed, we have used Expedia before at peak times in Maui (at the Westin) and had no problems. We called to complain and were told the best the Sheraton could do was to waive our cancelation fee and allow us to find other accommodations. We thought this was a pretty poor response. We asked for a Manager who did find another room for us, but upon packing up and moving the front desk said we could not stay in that room for the rest of our 10 day visit. The Sheraton gave us 4 breakfast vouchers and told us they would put us in a family suite for our next move. We packed up once again and were without a room for about 4 hours. The new room, and the facility overall, was quite dated. We called Corporate and they apologized and said they could not see our bill as we paid through Expedia but they would credit the $26/day (not sure what that is really for) as a gesture - disappointing overall.
