The property currently houses approximately 400 displaced Lahaina fire victims. You don’t find out about it until after you check in and they don’t tell you anything unless you ask. There is no break in rates and they actually charge you top dollar and say it is because they are fully booked. Only true because half of the hotel is housing fire victims probably paying nothing. Steer clear of this hotel until the fire relief issue is resolved or until paying customers receive something for this inconvenience. Does not have the feel of a 5 star resort while this is going on.

Fabulous Hyatt. The grounds, rooms and interior areas were spotlessly clean. ALL of the staff were friendly and helpful. We especially liked the penguins and all the parrots and other birds that were so well taken care of at this Hyatt. Rob at the bar down by the pool made the best drinks and was very personable to everyone, he is the perfect bartender. We just had such a fabulous stay and it made us proud to say we are Hyatt members. Thank you so very much for such a memorable stay. The grounds and landscaping surrounded resort is just so beautiful.

Outdated hotel. For $800 a night average experience. Cheep scratchy loud uncomfortable bed sheets. Eggs at breakfast are synthetic and terrible. Must be powered eggs. Just horrible. Staff was nice overall. Jepengo the restaurant was great. Steakhouse decent.

We had a great stay. The staff was still recovering from the wildfire but was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The grounds are beautiful. The penguins and birds in the lobby are super fun and my kid loved it. The only thing pool grotto was under construction, which was a little disappointing as we were looking forward to that but everything else was amazing.

Great stay at a gorgeous hotel. Had all the feels of a high end luxury Maui resort and saved a little on the price tag. We got upgraded to a waterfront room with 2 balconies. Very nice.

The property was great. The beach was nice. Due to erosion the beach path was washed out between the hotel and Whalers Village, which made us walk on the street because we had a stroller. Parking was a pain.

Refund policy for emergency situation is not good
We do appreciate all the help from the hotel, but due to the emergency declared for the fires and wind, we requested to get some refund thru hotels.com. But the hotel plainly refused. We spent 2 days and 2 nights without and power and data. The hotel at least should help with refund even if partial, but did not help. Other than that, the first two days have been good.

We were there during the Maui wildfires and the fire in Lahaina. The hotel lost power right away only had one back up generator, which only ran one elevator in each tower. They need more generators. We lost electricity, air-conditioning cell service, Internet, and food. They were still charging people after the power went out For hotel stays as well as food, which was dwindling every day. Their escape plan was horrible. They told us to go on the golf course and sit in the sand and if the fire got a closer to go in the water. I have been to this hotel before and it was fantastic many years ago but unfortunately, we got stuck during the wildfires and they were not prepared at all .
