This hotel has refurbished linens and beds in the rooms, but not the common areas. The hotel is on the older end, but overall is a clean price conscious hotel. The free breakfast was ok. Like many of the hotels, the bread and pastries were old and the juices/milk was watered down. They had waffles, fake eggs, bacon and sausage. For the price I paid, I would stay here again.
Air flight cancelled on Aug. 11,2015. Rebooked for Aug. 12,2015. Called Expedia and was told to call Hotel direct. Did so and explained situation and requested they hold room. (Spoke to Ella). Upon arrival was informed room had been given away because of no show. We had to pay again for room for six nights, which had already been paid by you? I feel this should have been handled by Expedia directly when I called in. As of now. we are being billed twice for one room? I hope it can be worked out to satisfaction of all.
We have stayed at this Holiday Inn Express on several visits to Charlotte since it was new. After a few years the facility is showing a lot of wear and tear. The great staff makes up for most of this, but we are looking for a new fresh place to stay on our future visits.
Hostess was most accomodating with breakfast to our schedule which changed every day. She was ready to have it early or late, whatever we needed. Location kept us out of south Charlotte's horrible traffic. When we went to supper at mall areas, we were going against LONG lines of work traffic. When we returned it was gone.

Part of Metrolina, Matthews is one of several incorporated towns that serve as a bedroom community to Charlotte. Matthews’ centerpiece is its stately brick colonial Town Hall, the seat of local government. Charlotte is easily accessible thanks to the area’s first urban highway, Independence Boulevard.
