Built in the 1970s, it enjoys a breathtaking view of Capri and the Gulf of Naples. It is located in one of the most beautiful corners of the coast of Massa Lubrense, less than ten minutes, by car, from the center of the village. The villa is divided into two main houses, in the same building, completely independent, which nevertheless use the pool and the descent to the sea. This description refers only to the property called "Il Geco" subject of the description below. The second property can be occupied by the owners or their guests. Access to the villa is through an avenue of a private park with automatic gate on the provincial road Massa-Marciano (via IV Novembre, 36). The swimming pool, used from May to October, is filled with seawater; it is about 10 m x 6 m wide with a depth ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 m. The terraces around the pool, imposing directly on the sea, require assistance for children, as there are no complete fences. There are deckchairs and sunbeds. Bathing in the pool is a unique experience and you can get the impression of being suspended on the sea. Only 100 steps allow direct access to the sea, through a private descent of the villa, with access to the rocks. The main entrance of "Il Geco" is entirely occupied by the main living room (about 60 square meters), the dining room, a small bathroom and the kitchen. The large living room overlooks one of the large terraces with two large window doors; the two large windows at the corners of the room are oriented towards Capri and the Faraglioni and the second towards Vesuvius. The room has a large fireplace that is fully functional, which, on cooler evenings, becomes the center of the living space, surrounded by sofas. The living room is equipped with a Hi-Fi system with CD player and a turntable (there is an extensive collection of classical music records). In one corner of the room there is a large TV screen, connected to a satellite antenna that allows you to watch the main international channels, as well as Italian TV. There is phone and open wi-fi connection. The villa has 4 double bedrooms with independent bathroom and AC. The additional 2 bedrooms with bunk beds, and a room with one and a half square beds and independent bathroom are available on request. The equipment, all perfectly and regularly functioning are the original ones of the villa. All double rooms have air conditioning. The total number of beds is 8 (+5 on request). The main bedroom of the house, is on level -1\. It is about 40 square meters and has a large window door on the front terrace (large independent panoramic terrace on level -1) and a side window. The main double bed and furniture are in "Italian" style. In the room there is a separate dressing room with a large mirror. The room has an external and internal telephone line and air conditioning. The bathroom is in front of the room access pass and has toilet, bidet, sink and shower. The second double bedroom on level -1 has two windows that open onto two different views. Air conditioning. The attached bathroom has toilet, bidet, sink and shower. The third double bedroom on level +1, has a panoramic balcony and a side window. The attached bathroom has toilet, sink and shower. Air conditioning. The fourth double bedroom has two windows and a large private hallway. The attached bathroom has toilet, bidet, sink and shower. Air conditioning. the 3 optional single rooms have bunk beds. an optional fourth bedroom has a bed a square and a half and independent bathroom and air conditioning. The construction is from 1970 and therefore, although in good condition, the villa demonstrates a certain age. We really enjoyed how communicative the property manager was - she was excellent at providing recommendations. The drivers she recommended were excellent. It is worth noting that it is a long (uphill) walk to Massa Lubrense. We had planned to take the bus into Sorrento and were largely unable to do so because the walk was further than it appears on Google Maps. The first time was in March of 2020, as COVID began to impact Italy. Nello and everyone that works with him to care for the property took such amazing care of us back then that we just had to come back.This time, we brought our friends and family with us and spent 5 wonderful nights. At arrival, Sonia met us in the Massa Lubrense town center and showed us how to get to the private community where the villa is located. At the end of a winding driveway, we came to a gate that opens onto a little piece of heaven.The villa is perfect whether you want to have a large group together on a terrace or in the large living room, or if you want to find a quiet place to be alone. The smells of the sea, olive trees, and rosemary greet you at every turn. If you take Nello’s recommendations for cooks to visit the villa, you will have amazing food served by wonderfully kind people.Leaving the villa, there are several paths to walk up into the town center, or down into the harbor through lemon, orange, and olive groves.My only disappointment was realizing that the time had come to leave again. May 25, 2024 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### A southern Italian gem Wonderful villa perched on magnificent cliffs overlooking the sea, with breathtaking views of Ischia and Capri. This villa has it all: well appointed old world charm and modern amenities on a private lot that provides a space for really slowing down. For those seeking the true relaxation of southern Italy, this property can’t be beat. Located in Massa Lubrense, away from the hustle and bustle of Sorrento and Positano we were still within reasonable distance of everything we wanted to do. We spent a lot of time in the Villa because once there you never want to leave, but also did get to visit some of the attractions of the area. As for the property management, both Nello and Sonja were a joy to work with and were extremely accommodating of our questions and needs. Could not imagine better hosts. A huge thank you to both of them and we will definitely be back! Finally, as a suggestion to others considering renting this same property, we rented only the property on this listing but were lucky enough to have the whole place to ourselves. Upon seeing the space, however, we realize if we were to come back we would like to make sure we have the same situation, as having another family share the pool and common areas would detract a bit from the whole experience. She met us all in town on the first day and drove us to the property, which, admittedly, would have been hard to find on our own. Its seclusion is definitely part of its charm however. Honestly it feels a bit like heaven to enter the beautiful villa, see the phenomenal view, swim in the salt water pool, and eat delicious home cooked meals with family and dear friends on the patio overlooking the Gulf of Naples and Capri. We had two phenomenal meals cooked by a lovely, local couple who are the real deal and there were enough leftovers for lunch the next day! Sonja also helped arrange transportation and made reservations for us at two local restaurants which were also lovely experiences. Honestly, we all had to pinch ourselves a bit, wondering if we were in a movie setting or if the beautiful villa, grounds, pool and view were actually our real life for a week! The kitchen was sparsely stocked, so be prepared to buy your own paper towels, laundry detergent, etc, but this doesn’t detract from the 5 star review - everything else was way too spectacular - it’s just a warning to be prepared for this. Also, the owners are right, you really can’t rent this villa without also renting a car. But ignore all the hype about how hard it is to drive on the Amalfi coast. My husband actually enjoyed it, most of the time! We will enjoy our memories of your stunning villa the rest of our lives. Thank you so so so much!! ##### Natasha W. Each room has beautiful views of the gardens or the sea, Vesuvius or Capri. The place is on the older side (furniture, bed, bathroom), but the view and the opportunity to all have our own bedrooms is great. The pool was lovely and the terrasse to all eat together as well. The house is so spacious and clean and the property manager helped us with every aspect of our stay . There was a road race the weekend that we stayed and she helped us determine when there was a window for us to leave for our cooking class. I was most worried about how we would get to town and back as we did not feel that we could drive on the coast. The property manager put us in contact with a lovely family taxi service that was incredibly helpful.
