The best time to go to Martano is during the shoulder seasons, specifically May, June, and September, for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.During these months, you'll experience comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from the low 20s to mid-20s Celsius, which is ideal for exploring the town and surrounding Salento region. You can enjoy outdoor activities like visiting the nearby beaches or cycling through olive groves without the intense heat of peak summer. The fewer visitors also mean a more relaxed experience at popular attractions and local restaurants.July and August are the warmest and busiest months. Temperatures often exceed 30°C, and many Italian families holiday in Puglia during this period, leading to crowded beaches and higher prices for accommodation and flights. While the atmosphere is lively, it might be less comfortable for those who prefer a more tranquil trip. For those interested in cultural events, Martano hosts the "Notte della Taranta" music festival in August, celebrating traditional Salento music. If you're keen to experience this unique event, be prepared for significant crowds and book your accommodation well in advance.
