Villa Saranda is a lovely private villa set in the peaceful retreat of Sögüt. The villa enjoys one of the most picturesque rural hilltop location together with truly stunning views. Söğüt – it’s hard to spell, difficult to say, nobody has heard of it and it’s not easy to get there and that is what makes this peaceful retreat hugely desirable. This is the place to really relax, unwind and take a step back in time to a more simple life. Villa Saranda situated at the top of the hill is not overlooked at all, you have absolute privacy and an exceptional view. The most distant island is the Greek island of Symi – and this area is known as the Symi Gulf – the others are small Turkish islands with no habitation but with plenty of good swimming and snorkelling around them. Villa Saranda – the name is taken from the old Greek name for this area – is rustic, it’s a mountain lodge – alpine chalet style – rough stone walls and warm pine are complemented with comfortable furnishings, antique collections and quirky pieces. Climb the steps to the upper floor and you’ll notice they accommodate the huge rock that has stood in the same place for many millions of years. As you sit on one of the huge terraces marvelling at the views you cannot help but be mesmerised. Come evening you will be spellbound by the intensity of the sunsets. Be prepared to take a lot of photographs! Alternatively this may be the place that persuades you to a digital-detox, the scale and beauty of the surroundings seem to encourage you to reconnect with nature. Earlier and later in the season this is an area to walk and hike. The 800km. long distance walking Carian Trail passes nearby. Venture down the hill to the sea front – it’s likely that you will pass a wild donkey or two – there’s a handful of sea-side restaurants, it’s unpretentious, it’s quaint and it is a way of life rarely experienced these days. Rüchan and Verda the charming owners of Villa Saranda live nearby and ensure that fresh bread is delivered daily and Verda has a wealth of knowledge about the area. Larger supermarkets can be found in nearby Bozburun, less than a 15 minute drive and Selimiye which is approximately 25 minutes. Nearest Airport 2 hours and 15 minutes from Dalaman airport Notes Maid service is provided on a daily basis for light cleaning, with towels and bed linen changed every two days. The views from the two large patio areas were breathtakingly beautiful. Verda and her husband were lovely hosts, and arranged a wonderful hike/lunch for us with a local farmer. Sie verspricht all das, was man auf den Bildern sieht. Die Villa bietet mit zwei Schlafzimmern, einem großen Wohnzimmer, zwei WCs, einer Terrasse im Obergeschoss und hauseigenem Pool ausreichend Platz. Wir haben uns so wohlhefühlt, dass wir kaum die Unterkunft verlassen wollten. Die Terrasse bietet einen weiten und wundervollen Ausblick. Hier lässt sich der Sonnenuntergang wahrlich genießen. Wir haben hier die Ruhe gefunden, nach der wir uns gesehnt haben. Es ist der perfekt Ort, an dem man die Seele baumeln lassen kann. Aber auch ein sehr guter Ausgangspunkt, um die Umgebung zu erkunden (Selimiye, Bozburun, Orhaniye, Ciftlik, die Amos Bucht oder die Turgut Wasserfälle uvm). Ein Mietauto wird daher empfohlen. Alles in allem hatten wir einen einzigartigen Aufenthalt, an den wir uns immer gerne zurückerinnern werden. Ein ganz besonderer Dank gilt an die Eigentümer, die uns so herzlich willkommen haben und stets mit Tipps und Ratschlägen zur Seite standen. ##### Engin B. We found at the villa the privacy and peace we were looking for, as well as stunning views from the terraces and living room. Its location close to Sogutkoy bays makes it very convenient to enjoy some nice food at the local restaurants (or as take-away) with a great swim in the sea. Verda & Ruchan were very welcoming. Always available without being intrusive. We also appreciated having a light cleaning every morning and the towels changed every couple of days. An ideal spot to chill, soak up some sun and use as a base to explore this wonderful part of Turkey. The villa is spacious, well equipped, with incredible views over the sea to the Greek island of Symi. Our friendly hosts were next door if we needed anything or sought advice. There are plenty of great eateries in Sogut and many will send a car for you. Try the new Seranda Teras for the second best view in Sogut, the best view is from the sun terrace outside the main bedroom door of the villa. The villa's pool was deliciously warm with relaxing loungers with parasols and shady tables and chairs to use for alfresco snacks. The top sun terrace has a hammock, sun loungers and a dining table, although wasps drove us indoors when we attempted our first dinner outside. There is a washing line to dry wet swim things and towels. The location of the villa makes car hire essential, which was easily provided through Ilios Travel. Our only gripe would be the standard of the access driveway inside the villa's front gates. Once inside, the driveway consists of large uneven stones concreted in place which made this very bumpy section "challenging" to say the least. All in all a very enjoyable stay.
