"Off season stay"
We booked Kydonia because of the cheap price as we are backpacking, and as with most greek accommodations in March they were doing renos so the place was a bit of a mess. Our room however was all ready and a decent size, with private bathroom. The owner spoke english fairly well and was friebdly enough. There was a small tv with cable-we could watch english speaking shows, they usually play them later in the evening. Mini fridge worked and the bathroom was acceptable for a budget place. The double bed was tilted from the top right corner slanting down towards the bottom left, made for interesting sleeping positions but overall it was a decent place for a cheap price. The location is spectacular, 10seconds from the venetian harbour and on a main touristy street, plus there is a starbucks right next/below (the rooms are second floor). There are 2 small sets of stairs and one is narrow and steep so not recommended for those with accessibility issues, but if the price is decent and location is important go for it.

"Wonderful hotel. Loved it.."
This beautiful little hotel was so wonderful. The best of our stay. Well worth paying a little more for such a wonderful experience. The staff could not have been more helpful. Just a lovely place.

"Fantastic Boutique Hotel; unique, luxurious, fun "
My new wife and I honeymooned for 12 days through the Greek islands and Serenissima was easily the best hotel we encountered. The facilities maintain the aesthetic charm of the original Venetian building while including every modern convenience (giant smart T.V., USB chargers in room phones, electric window blinds, independent temperate controls, etc.). The staff is warm, welcoming, accommodating, and gave excellent restaurant and activity recommendations. For example, we arrived around 11:00 PM and one of the staffers walked out of the old town to meet us, jumped in our rental car and parallel parked it for us in a tiny ally backward uphill and then carried our bags through the old town to the hotel, all with a smile and informative commentary. There are many more great things I could say about our stay, but I'll close with these two words, PILLOW MENU. Yup, there is a pillow menu sitting on the bed when you arrive and it is fantastic.

Elia Hotel

"Newly renovated hotel right in Chania's centre"
Elia is a newly renovated hotel (2015) located right next to the Cathedral in a pedestrianised shopping street. We stayed in one of the suites on the fourth floor, this consisted of a room with a king size bed (with tempur foam matress and pillows no less), a separate lounge with TV and sofa bed and a bathroom with a big electric shower. The wardrobe, fridge and safe were located between the three rooms with doors providing privacy for all. The two main rooms were air conditioned and have balconies and were very clean and neat, as you'd expect from such a recent renovation. The balconies gave us great views of the old part of the city and we could see the sea and lighthouse from them. After getting settled I needed to ask the staff for help with a few things, getting a cot set-up, opening the safe, more coat hangers and borrowing a mains adapter - all of which they jumped to immediately and get sorted within a few minutes - they were extremely helpful and pleasant. Breakfast is served on the first floor, it is a buffet affair with lots of choice including cereals, breads, croissants and bacon/sausages - it was all delicious and we could eat sat out on the big balcony overlooking the narrow shopping streets and cafes. The hotel is located very centrally, behind the Catherdral, it was a short walk to the harbour and market and very convienent for some of the best restaurants and bars in Chania. The shops are all open very late too (11PM or later).
