Whether it's for a weekend getaway or a 2-week vacation, come enjoy log cabin life the way it used to be. Like the sound of rain on a tin roof? We've got you covered. Looking for outdoor adventure? Trails, waterfalls, fishing, and gem mining are only minutes away. Or drive right down the road and hop on the Blue Ridge Parkway to view the changing leaves amid some of the most breathtaking scenery on the east coast. Our cabin features 2 rustic bedrooms upstairs - the master bedroom with a queen size bed and another with a full size bed. Downstairs, relax in the spacious living room with a gas log fireplace, TV, DVD player, wifi and sleeper sofa. The cozy kitchen has what you'll need for your trip, and the 30' front porch with rocking chairs and quaint back porch with gas grill and fire pit will help your worries fade away, mountain-style. All cabin water is fed from an artesian underground spring right on the property for some of the best tasting water you've ever had. We welcome you to where our family has lived for generations, and we're right up the road if you have questions or if anything needs attention. Each time I go to Crabtree falls I try to go to the orchard, but this is not always possible because the store is closed during the winter for offseason. I also have never actually gone apple picking, but instead go inside the store and buy the already picked apples. The majority of the times I have visited, there is live bluegrass music. Different kinds of preserved canned foods line many shelves in the store. Homemade fudge is sold, as well as ice cream. During the fall parking can be rough, since it is peak leaf and apple season. This picture captures the vastness of the Appalachian region in my eyes: the life present, the rich colors, and the visibility of the mountains far away. Perfect for a couple in the Fall. We appreciated the cleanliness and comfort as it felt like home. Beautiful cabin with antique furniture. Loved the vintage feel. Gas fireplace worked well along with heating unit if needed. There’s an A/C unit upstairs, but we didn’t need it. Windows opened easily! There are also fans in every room and another heater in one of rooms upstairs. (For both A/C and heat upstairs you would probably need to leave bedroom doors open to circulate.) Well appointed kitchen for cooking, must hand wash dishes which didn’t matter to us. The cabin had everything we needed, including extension cords to plug in phones at night. Martha and Dan do an excellent job making guests feel welcome! We enjoyed the trails on property, and the rocking chairs on the front porch. There is a neighbor in front of cabin, but they were very quiet and kept lights out at night. Peaceful area. Cabin sits in an excellent location, literally only a few minutes from BR Pkwy and Little Switzerland. Loved being so close without the crowd! We visited Grassy Creek Country Club in Spruce Pine for excellent food and views. Of note: until parkway completely reopens, you can currently enjoy about ten miles, then you must get off and drive around, either direction, to pick up rest. We were actually grateful because at the height of leaf changing - kept traffic and crowds down! It was wonderful. Booking this historic cabin was such a delight. The cabin was extremely clean. All the kitchen and bathroom items needed are provided, just in case you forgot something. The cabin had great hot water, super fast wifi, great tv, and a view hiking trails close by on the property. We had our German Shepherd Dog with us, so large dogs are allowed, which is a big plus, while other places sometimes have weight limits on our four legged family members. The cabin is located not far away from the Blue Ridge Parkway, which makes access to various attractions breezy. Close by attractions such as Crabtree Falls, Linville Falls, Grandfather Mountain, Rough Ridge Lookout, Mount Mitchell, just to name a few. ##### Simone G. As a historian and an amateur wood craftsman, this log cabin allowed us the opportunity to stay in a restored and relocated 200 year old log cabin. The historian part of me laughs at the lavish residences of those who lived 200 years ago - knowing fully well that they are full of wishful imagination. Abraham Lincoln’s boyhood cabin was just a single room, 16 feet by 12 feet log cabin. This cabin from a decade later was a much larger single room log cabin with a sleeping loft. The restoration has added much more: a kitchen and bathroom, two sleeping areas upstairs, Mountain clear running water, hot water, oven and stove, refrigerator and freezer, microwave, television, and WiFi. It is nested in a mostly shaded hardwood forest where we watched deer, wild turkeys, rabbits, and birds make their way. The front porch is an excellent place to relax in one of the four rocking chairs and read in the peaceful quietness. Located at about 3,600 feet in elevation, our week in July was comfortable even without air conditioning. The electric fans provided plenty of air circulation. Now for my woodcrafting knowledge: the old oak logs are hand hewed, and the original adz and axe marks are clearly visible. The wooden, country furniture is largely handmade of black walnut, oak, wormy chestnut, and red cedar. All tastefully complete the interior. ##### Beacham M. You must see it & experience it for yourself!! We, unfortunately, didn’t get to spend as much time at the cabin & on the property as we would have liked, but I will certainly clear my calendar for another trip to Little Switzerland, just to soak in all that this little “cabin in the woods” has to offer! Martha & Dan have everything you could need or want (down to a pair of readers, in case you forgot yours!!). What a cozy, wonderful hidden gem!! We were surprised to find that the bathroom was downstairs, while the bedrooms were upstairs! That didn’t hamper our stay, however. The pull out sofa suited us just fine!
