This was our second stay at the Kingsail. This time we had a king room with a screened porch that had great marina view. It was a good place to relax with the morning and evening breezes. We saw manatees, pelicans and other bird life from our porch. The bed was very comfortable with other the basic room furnishings. The pool was nicely done and relaxing. The room was clean and mopped daily but the maids seemed to miss the edge of the floors with the mop. The staff was helpful and cheerful throughout our stay. We liked the room and motel inspite of the edgy mop, and will book it again next month.

The buildings are lovely and the inside was spacious. We found it very pretty and peaceful like the hotel name - Tranquility! Then came the weekend and we heard babies crying, kids screaming and adults shouting, that is when we found out this is a favourite weekend retreat for the city folks. The children turned the putting green where we spent the evening putting into a war zone with swords and water pistols. Adults sitting on the green instead of the lawn. We had to keep our doors closed to keep the noise out and thankfully, it was back to normal on Monday.
"1950s - 60s Motel Experience near 3 Great FL Parks"
While staying in the Marathon, FL area to visit 3 near by State Parks: Bahia Honda (hiking and a nice beach), Curry Hammock (a great hiking trail), and Long Key (history and a nice nature trail loop) I have stayed here for the past 4 years. I like the 1950's to 1960's "old style motor court" motel with a unique atmosphere. There are good restaurants near by and friendly people.
This was a lovely, relaxing place to stay as an introduction to the Keys. The beach wasn't good for swimming but it was fun to explore the beach, water and the docks with our three kids. Relaxing in the hammock watching my son fly his kite was a highlight of our trip. We loved the small, clean pool as well. Our room looked out on the beach - paradise!

In the central Keys Marathon is a relatively new city, though the area has been developed for a while. Tourists flock to Marathon to sunbathe on Sombrero Beach. Fishing and scuba diving are also popular here.
