A basic, excellent value lodge with friendly staff, great views and simple but delicious breakfasts (and even dinners). Highly recommended, especially if you have your own transportation.

Stunning location, tranquil, views, nature.
The location is ideal...just on the outskirts of Manizales. Taxi drivers knew the location. Low fare to get there. Balconies with super comfy seating surrounds the hotel with incredible views. Many, many birds to see up close. Rooms with views that are clean, comfortable bed, hot shower, decent breakfast, and awesome staff. It was easy to explore the city from this location; we could catch a bus right at the end of the road, really nearby. We bussed to Chipre for the exceptional views of the volcanoes. From there we walked the main avenue and eventually taxied to a thermal springs. You won’t be disappointed with this peaceful location.

Immersion in Colombian mountain forests
Ecohotel Juanita has an unparalleled view of coffee farms and magnificent vistas of mountains that extend out to a hazy horizon. No, I'm not being overly descriptive. It is one of the most beautiful views I've ever seen in my entire life, and I grew up in Hawaii. A tropical bird slept in the planter that hung outside our window, and there's a short forest trail from the hotel's steep staircase that will lead past plants and clear-winged butterflies. When you eat breakfast on the balcony, colorful birds visit the feeder to eat any fruit left there as others soar off into the distance. After breakfast, we walked down the dirt road to tour a coffee finca, led by the owner who has lived there for decades. I don't review most of the hotels I stay at, but I had to review Ecohotel Juanita. Don't get me wrong, this is not a luxury resort like those in Dubai or Las Vegas. But if you are looking for immersion in nature with simple, kind service, this is it.

Beware!! The photos are not a true representation!
The "natural pool" looked amazing in the photos! Not so much, unless you like swimming with live tadpoles! You couldn't see deeper than the first step! My daughter was extremely disappointed! Don't bother booking the "suite". The regular rooms were larger and nicer. The upgrade was only a jacuzzi tub I was scared to sit in! We were even without a t.v. the first night. Cleanliness was below average even for a finca. Workers were attentive and welcoming, but female manager (owner?) was defensive. We politely addressed our concerns at checkout but she was more concerned with charging us for the "extra person" that wasn't on the original reservation. She wouldn't even "trade" that cost for the pool condition or the missing t.v. We explained we were buying property just down the road and would regularly need accommodations for friends and family, but our repeat business was not a concern. Positives were quiet and nice view. Our guests will be passing this hotel to stay elsewhere. May have been a nice place before (when photos were taken), but is run down now!! Wish I had taken my own pictures to share!

Wonderful place with many great birds
Great place quiet but an easy walk to the bus. Owner's daughter speaks english. Breakfast included with fantastic view over the valley. Will come back.

A little paradise away a few minutes from the city
You have to remember that this is an Ecohotel, so some of the facilities are very basic. But the place is clean, comfortable, economic and, most importantly, a quiet paradise in the mountains with some of the most beautiful views. Excellent!

Amazing views!
A piece of paradise only a few minutes away from the city, with easy access by public transportation. Amazing views of the mountains from your room and everywhere else in the hotel. You can even do the private trails within the hotel. Excellent, friendly staff. Good breakfast. Excellent price. Very peaceful and quite.

Tranquil locale
For the money it was perfect. Beautiful location outside of town. The bus to town was easy and cheap. Manizales can get a tiny bit dicey late at night, and the hotel was much safer than some of the comparable hotels in town. The staff were very nice. My room was a tiny bit musty, but everything else was very nice. I can easily recommend this place.

Cost effective & Green: The best of both worlds.
Kudos to the staff for not just having a green-friendly hotel, but also being informed about environmental activities in the area. If one wants to experience anything related to the environment in this region of Colombia, the staff/owners of this hotel can VERY easily point one in the right direction! I also liked the central location on a popular bus route as well as breakfast.

Nice place to stay near Manizales
We had a great experience at this hotel. It is a beautiful traditional Colombian house ran by the owners, who are really nice people. The hotel is located outside Manizales but in a very convenient location, just 10 to 15 min drive from Manizales city center. Thus you get everything, a traditional house in a very tranquil and green area and also proximity to the city. The view from the terrace was amazing. You could sit there forever on a hamac looking at the mountains. Breakfast was great: traditional chocolate with arepa and eggs. The rooms were basic but clean. I highly recommend this place.

Ecohotel La Juanita was a perfect location to see the surrounding sites and hills outside Manizales. The hotel is beautifully situated on a hillside offering spectacular views of lower Andes hillside; birds galour; fresh air.

Habitación con muy mal olor
La habitación que me ofrecieron tenia un HEDOR terrible a humedad ademas de que se le estaba cayendo la pintura a las paredes, no se si solamente era esa habitación en particular o si todas las habitaciones tienen ese olor tan desagradable. El letrero que tienen para indicar la ubicación del hotel esta cubierto por pasto por lo que no se ve. LLEVAR EFECTIVO, cuando fui a realizar el pago no contaban con datáfono para realizar pago con tarjeta

Hay un aviso en la carretera principal y cerca no hay ningún árbol Lo del datáfono simplemente tuvo una actualización , cosa que no depende de nosotros y en el momento no respondió. De ligging van de accommodatie was super. Mooi uitzicht, in mooie natuur. Een rust plek in een basic voorziening. Prima gastvrouw Ontbijt is even basic als de lokatie

El lugar es bonito y agradable pero en su página web deben ponee bien claro que hay que llevar comida, pedirla a domicilio o ir a la ciudad a comer. Además tienen un salón de fiestas que alquilan. Deberían avisar al huésped para que elija si quiere "descansar" con el ruido de una fiesta todo el día.

Buenas noches El salón se alquila hasta las 7 de la noche y el evento comenzó a la 1 de la tarde es muy exagerado decir que fue todo el día, además fue muy moderado el ruido que se hizo

Es war schön , schlicht und einfach aber in einer tollen Lage, man steht auf, und hat eine wunderschöne Aussicht aus der Terrasse & die Colibris sind einem ganz nah. Abends kann man gemütlich auf der Terrasse ein Wein trinken und auf die Cikaden im Wald horschen. Man darf darunter kein Luxus erwarten, einfaches aber dafür sehr freundliches &familiäres Personal. Würden gerne auch wieder das gleiche Hotel besuchen :-).

Fantástico!
Es un lugar excepcional! La vista, el servicio, las habitaciones, absolutamente todo estuvo fenomenal. recomendado para visajeros solos, en familia o en pareja, particularmente si gustan de la naturaleza.

Para un buen fin de semana
En general es cómodo, agradable, la piscina natural es linda y reconfortante, es tranquilo, fácil llegar, no hay restaurante pero consiguen comida a domicilio económica y rápido. Faltan algunos retoques para que se vea mejor. Las fotos quedan bonitas

La Juanita, une excellente adresse familiale
Rocío,la maîtresse de maison est adorable, drôle et attentionnée.La vue des chambres et du patio nous plonge littéralement dans les flancs de la montagne. Les colibris viennent se désaltérer à nos côtés pendant le petit-déjeuner. Organisée en un tour de main (du soir pour le matin 4h!), notre excursion jusqu'au glacier de Santa Isabelle nous a comblée, bien que rude. La Juanita, une excellente adresse familiale.

Agradable, muy familiar
Cerca a todo, fácil acceso. Los propietarios son super pendientes de lo que le haga falta al huésped, el desayuno es como si estuvieras en tu casa. La cabalgata no es dentro del hotel y tampoco tiene bicicletas para irse por los senderos de la finca.

Ecohotel dentro Manizales - muy buena alternativa
Yo escogi el "ecohotel Juanita' por aparecer distinto como se veia en Hoteles.com. Mi esposo estaba sceptico porque no ibamos a estar juntos con amigos en "el centro". Pero valia mucho tomar el riesgo sin conocer el hotel. Aunque es en una vereda, la verdad es que eso es un barrio regular de Manizales. Nos quedamos alla para la Feria en enero, solo con mi esposo. La mayoria de las hab.s acomodan mas personas. Quero felicitar los duenos que se han dedicado en serio al negocio hotelero con todos los certificados en Ecoturismo, historia y cultura de la region, etc. El mas importante, que tienen la mente y la actitud de servicio - clave para agradecer a los visitantes. No es otro hotel "de un dia al otro", pero dedicado. La vista, ubicacion maravillosa y los duenos definitivamente son las ventajas grandes del hotel. Se trata de una casa grande rodeada de arboles y flores de colores extraordinarios - y senora Rocio, la duena, pudo contarme sobre todos sus nombres. Uno se siente como en una finca pero muy cerca a la ciudad, sin verla. Una experiencia inolvidable fue la cabalgata en vereda vecina que pudimos asistir gracias al Sr. dueno Ricardo quien nos dijo sobre ella, y nos rento dos caballos. Caballos se rentan a todo tiempo para caminar alrededor tambien. El desayuno con cafe real delicioso se sirve en el piso terraza que permite las vistas maravillosas. Los duenos querian satisfacer nuestros deseos, en una manera "no aprendida", pero cordial. Nuestra primera habitacion no funciono bien para mi, como a mi me molesta ruido - quedo al frente del parqueadero. La nos cambiamos por otra habitacion abajo que fue muy calma. Vale la pena consequir esta - la habitacion de noche romantica - con bano muy amplio en rojo y negro, con espejo en toda una pared, y unos gatos enamorados pintados - sencillo. Hay agua caliente. La unica unica incomodidad fue el colchon - no creo que tenia "springs", fue concavo en la mitad resultando en menos comforte en la noche. Cambio de eso si resultara en mayor satisfaccion. Ingles: Staying at Ecohotel Juanita was a great experience - I am glad I took the risk to book it without any feedback from other guests. having stayed there I wish to popularize this type of hotel which Colombians have to appreciate better. It is the experience of staying on a beautiful slope of the mountains around Manizales, waking up to nature and feeling in a finca. There is hot water and the basic necessities of a hotel. It is not a fancy one, but offers different options, including a cabana outside the main building - which I'd be interested in staying next time. My husband and I were most impressed with the dedication of the owners to hotel business - I have experience hotels in Colombia where the attitude is of "part time" hotel owner. Rocio and Ricardo on the other hand are serious about it, with all necessary and additional certificates in ecotourism, history and regional culture, etc. An example of Ricardo's dedication is he gave us his cell phone to call at any time which we did (we were there for the Feria, a crazy time in Manizales with late partying). He also drove guests to airport and drove us to the bank in the city the morning of our check-out as we only had a card on us. There is hot water, and plenty of blankets when cold. I recommend this hotel and commend the owners for their professional and genuine attitude.
