Second, the host was uncommunicative and unaware of my upcoming reservation. I contacted the host through VRBO and Expedia on December 31st, the day before our booking, but received no information or replies until just two hours before check-in on New Year's Eve. The owner finally responded on the 31st. Frustrated, I booked another room elsewhere. Then, the host claimed he needed to confirm with VRBO, apologized, but ultimately canceled our reservation, accused us of overcommunicating, and refused to refund the full amount.
