First time staying. No ATM on-site. Front desk agent upon check-in was not rude, but was not warm or very welcoming. The gentleman that was at the front desk later on was much more pleasant and outgoing. Room was very clean. I can tell they've recently remodeled. I will try the Holiday Inn across the street next week. Its $50 more per night. I know this because I had to walk over there to use their ATM. Their front desk agent was very friendly and helpful. They earned my next stay. La Quinta Salem did not. I will say, Kudos to the housekeeper that cleaned the room prior to my arrival and to the second shift front desk agent.

i stayed there around Christmas week and by chance i had same room. only problem this time was room was very warm and stuffy I opened widow and put ac on, but ac did not seem to blow cold. last time i stayed in room was warm also but ac seemed to cool it off very little sleep last night due to room being warm.

When I checked in the staff member was on his phone. He had one ear bud in and clearly on a FaceTime call. He didn’t hang up his personal call while checking me in. I went to my room and found there was no way to turn on the TV without a remote control (not one in the room). I had to call the front desk 3 times to get a response. The price was right and it was clean but customer service was horrible.

We enjoyed our stay but were surprised upon arrival by a $100 surcharge/ deposit charged , on top of what was the expected expense, that was unadvertised and not listed on the booking site. We were traveling for a family funeral on the Christmas holiday….. it could have left us without accommodations due to unexpected cost. I am on a fixed income and don’t have extra $ just laying around for such “surprise” costs.
