"Pleasantly surprised "
Really nice little place. Staff very friendly. We got there late and put our kids to bed right away were able to sit at the lobby and enjoy a beer while keeping an eye in our room and being ear shot close in case one of them woke up. Only thing we didn't like were the beds which were uncomfortable. And like other reviews I will say the birds wake the place up pretty early but having kids we were awake anyway so not really a big deal.

"Peaceful and delightful "
We just returned from an amazing family vacation in Nicaragua. We stayed for 6 nights at Apoyo Resort. Our villa was semi open air with air-conditioned bedrooms, nice big showers, kitchen, front porch seating area, large living area and second level covered balcony with seating. The first day we were there we saw Howler Monkeys. The view of the Laguna was amazing. There is a lower level swimming pool close to the lake and an upper level pool at the top of the resort that overlooks the lake. Plenty of seating, bars and restaurants. The Laguna is warm and clean with kayaks for rent, a large jumping/lounging platform and a buoyed platform further out. The lake is beautiful and the perfect temperature for hours of water fun. The breakfast was hearty and delicious (even though we booked with Expedia and clearly stated there were 6 of us only 4 breakfasts per day were actually included, it cost $10 additional per person per day). The bedrooms stayed nice and cool. There was plenty of drinking water in the cooler. The showers had decent water pressure and the beds were comfortable. The customer service was very good for us. The reception was friendly, they booked our tours and transportation, when I asked for additional water they brought the water and also replaced towels and did a cleaning. Transport around the resort was regular and friendly. We always felt very safe and welcome. Most people working spoke English. There are a couple of important things to be aware of

"Friendly service but no hot water"
We stayed here on are way out of town being that the hotel is close (30min) from the airport. The service was excellent and the decore was a nice welcoming touch. We arrived late and left early so I cannot not speak to the facilities as we only used our room and walked through the hotel but they were so accommodating. They have a place to print boarding passes and being that our flight was leaving early they sent in coffee and fruits as we waited for our taxi. The stay was seamless except for there being NO hot water.

Hotel Xalteva

Calle Obispo Ulloa 1/2 cuadra norte, Granada - Map
This was our first visit to Nicaragua and we wanted a quiet place within strolling distance of Granada centre which offered peace and quiet, a clean and comfortable room and value for money. We found the Xalteva had all that with the bonus of a good breakfast on the terrace by the pool and without exception every member of staff was very helpful, efficient and friendly (this also applies to the owner, who was there on one of his frequent stays). It really was an easy stroll to the centre but when we wanted transport for trips (e.g. to Masaya) the staff quickly arranged a taxi. Staff were also very helpful with information and suggestions. Plenty of leaflets available and a library including travel guides.

Hotel Restaurante Cesar

"Passing through Managua"
This is billed as a hotel-restaurant but the restaurant was not open. We had traveled a long distance and were very hungry and hotel is far removed from the center of town and restaurants or grocery stores. We arrived midday and expected to at least find light lunch or dinner but there was neither. However, the next morning we had a delicious breakfast served by a kind and friendly man. The hotel manager/owner set up our departure taxi and told us it would be $15, which we agreed to pay; the next morning as we were about to leave she told us it was $20. This was the second time in two days this price upping happened to us in Nicaragua so we felt we were getting "jacked around" and wondered if we were being taken advantage of. Then when my friend paid $10 for three beers, she really felt that we were being exploited. They also asked us for the room key when we left, but we had never received a key; the room was open when we got there and one of us was always in the room so it was kind of strange. In summary, it is a nice place to relax with a bit of quirkiness to it.

"Amazing location on the beach"
Awesome beach and good staff make this a perfect choice to visit Pochomil and neighboring Masachapa. Great beach walk and refreshing pools to cool off. Rooms are nice, not fancy. Meals are inclusive, which is nice as Pochomil doesn't have many places to eat. Hotel restaurant is very good and staff is friendly. Day trips from Pochomil are an all day adventure as travel from this particular part of Nicaragua is not easy. NO English spoken, brush up on your Spanish.
