We stayed in the Ice House lodge which was very clean, cozy and accommodating. It has a full-size kitchen and living room. The property is very well kept and the scenery around the property is beautiful. Room was just what we needed for the night - bed, tv, ac, warm showers, coffee and mini fridge. Slight downfall is the room(s) have a sloped ceiling which we bummed our heads on a few times while trying to maneuver around the bed. But other than that, the place is super clean and cozy. The staff was very helpful; however, we had major issues with our air conditioning not functioning and putting off hot air during our stay making our room 87F in late april / early May. They tried to fix it and did offer that we could move to a different room after two nights of issues. The room was spacious and comfortable, with beautiful rustic-modern touches that made it feel both cozy and stylish. I especially loved the cute electric fireplace and the fact that all the furniture was so comfortable—it was the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. Our medium dog’s crate fit perfectly in the room, and the ground-floor access made it super easy to take her on walks outside. Plus, the views from the windows were absolutely breathtaking. Beyond the comfort of the room, there’s something truly special about this lodge. It’s not just a beautiful place to stay—it has a story. The lodge itself was built in 1929 by State Senator Karl Keough, and you can feel that history when you’re there. It’s incredible to think of all the people who have passed through this spot over the years, from pioneer families to travelers seeking the same peace and beauty that we enjoyed. The staff here are wonderful—super friendly and warm, which made the stay even better. It’s clear they care about this place and the people who visit.
