"Good enough for family"
A well maintained hotel - no smell and clean. Staff are polite and attentive. Not crowded so nice and quiet. Travelled with kids and they enjoyed themselves. Gave the pool a miss. Breakfast is a little overpriced for kids (same price as adults) with a limited buffet spread. Somehow housekeeping missed coming to tidy up the room between nights.

"A great hotel for a great place to visit"
On arrival was upgraded to a larger room at the Heeren Palm Suites, a sister hotel in the same street as the Gingerflower. The room was excellent, with a large bathroom, a small balcony and lots of charm. Like the Gingerflower the Heeren Palm Suites is a beautifully restored shophouse in what was millionnaires row. The public areas of the hotel are to the same high standards as the rooms and very spacious for a small hotel. A delicious breakfast was served each morning by the fiendly staff who on my birthday presented me with a cake and sang 'Happy Birthday'. Outside the hotel, Malacca is a great place to visit for anyone with an interest in history. There are lots of museums, some of which are very similar, but it is the preserved town centre that is the real gem, a living museum. A great place to drop in for tea is the Cheng Ho Tea House, two streets over, and don't miss the Jonker Walk market on the weekend evenings. Take time to explore the junk and antique shops. I hope to return one day.

"Charming boutique hotel"
This is a lovely little friendly and clean boutique hotel. It is a little way away from the central Malacca heritage area, so more suited to travelers with a car. It is close to the Portuguese Settlement however.

"Brand new hotel close to downtown Melaka"
I booked 3 nights at the Novotel Melaka. It was excellent value and the facilities in the hotel were really good. The hotel is brand new, the rooms are comfortable and have a good WiFi connection, the pool is really nice and the restaurant is excellent, with a good selection of local and international dishes. The staff were all really helpful.
