Several cabins fairly close by on the property. A thicket of trees separates the property from a golf course and it is a couple of blocks from a highway, so not exactly secluded. That isn't necessarily a negative. I felt safe there and it was easy to find with the directions from the host It was a quiet environment and very pleasant to sit out on the deck which was shaded by a tree at Cabin 2\. Unlike some of the other cabins, mine had only two steps up to the deck, so access was quite easy. Had a nice stone fireplace that would've been cozy if I was there in winter. As it was in the mid- nineties. I appreciated the AC. Had everything I needed for making simple meals. Bed was very comfortable, and was a great base for day hikes to many different areas of the Shawnee, not just Giant City. Close to places to get gas, groceries, too. It is off the beaten track, but with easy access to many choice locations in Southern Illinois. With several cabins close by, it would work well for a multi-family gathering. Had everything we needed while in town visiting family. Thermostat was set between 75-78 and we couldn't change it. But the ceiling fan in the bedroom kept me cool enough. If you are picky about pillows I'd bring your own bc the ones at the cabin were kinda flat. Couch wasn't super comfy but the recliner was decent.
