Expedia canceled my reservation at midnight the day I was supposed to check in. When I called the hotel, they said Expedia did it, Expedia said the hotel overbooked. Either way, we were cancelled just 12 hours before arrival, which is beyond frustrating. Neither the hotel or Expedia was helpful.

Fantastic place, we would have stayed longer if possible. Requested main dish not on menu and got excellent result. Short drive to Durham but guess that is required if you stay at a castle.

Very convenient with decent rooms. Unfortunately, our bathroom sink didn’t work. Overall, fine for short stay.

Unfortunate incident but friendly, helpful staff
The hotel definitely has a pleasant atmosphere and the staff at the desk for check in was also very friendly and helpful. I did need to change rooms because bed linens weren’t clean in the first room but they did a good job of getting me into another room even though they were sold out. The only thing that I didn’t like was how much you could hear other people in the hallway and also from other rooms.

10 bucks a night to park, this isnt new york city. What a joke. Ac didnt work so got back after a wedding to a room that was 75 degrees. Smoke detector was flashing green all night like a strobe, in the morning the staff never apologized just said there is nothing they can do about it. Thanks

I reserved a room with 2 queens only to get there and be told they only had king with sofa bed (very uncomfortable). Very disappointing when you don’t get what you reserved. Had no choice as we needed a place to stay ☹️

Dont pre buy the breakfast
I pre paid for breakfast and they couldn't find it. I pre paid through the app. We had to stay for our first visit at the cancer center across the street. Thanks to someones mistake where I was charged my already stressful day was started off terrible.

Breakfast was supposed to be included in my payment. Instead I was told by the "chef" she had no help and needed to take care of catering to a wedding party breakfast and would return in "5 minutes." Her 5 minutes turned into 25 and in the interim two dozen other guests arrived and had to wait for no service. Since I had a scheduled appointment I had to leave without breakfast. The cushioned chair in my room has a large central stain in the cushion which is a turn-off to sitting in it. The courtesy bar refrigerator in the room made a loud, continuous humming sound. When I told the manager about breakfast not being available as advertised (6:30 to 9:30 am) he replied, "I will look into it." If the "chef" had no help (there was another assistant with her) it would have been better for her to alert this to management in order to provide the help to deliver a paid-for-service rather than put the onus on the customer as too bad for the customer!

We had our company dinner in Fire and Oak restaurant. It was fantastic! We booked a room so we wouldn’t have to drive home. Our room was clean and really comfortable. Great night!
