Ski Chalet is nestled among a small group of Chalets. Smoky Mountain views will greet you each morning. Our cabin looks out over the beautiful Sheepback Mountain. The sound of Jonathan creek can be heard as it cascades through the valley below. The front deck provides beautiful views and a great placeto view Elj when they wander up to our deck. Elk are frequent visitors. We have a safety gate on our front deck that allows the deck to be fully closed in, great for kids or pets. Side entrance has a covered porch. In addition to our deck with rockers, we have a lighted area out front with a picnic table and more rockers for our guests. It is especially nice in the evenings. ( There is a switch inside the cabin that controls lighting.) The stars glow brighter when star gazing in a Mountain Chalet. Elk often meander up from the valley below, coming right up to our front deck or our picnic area. We love our 4 legged friends and our guests enjoy them too. The views are great from inside the cabin but there are also Lots of outdoor spaces to take in the mountain views and the cool breezes that blow through these hollows. \* Elk like to roam through these valleys and are frequent visitors at the chalet. \*Easy accesd. \* The entire drive to the chalet is paved, as is the driveway and parking. There is also additional parking directly in front of our cabin if guests need it. ☆ Spring is beautiful with the Parkway waking up and bursting with flowers. ☆ ☆ ☆ Summer offers lots of activities: Hiking, Tubing, Horseback rides, Long Drives on the Parkway, Visiting Catalocchee Valley and viewing Elk. There are many small towns within a short distance, including Biltmore and exploring Asheville. ☆ Fall days are spectacular. The weather is usually crisp and cool. ☆ A Kalideoscope of color greets you each morning as color spills out over Sheepback Mountain. Elk often meander right up to the front deck. We love watching these Magnificent animals that have been reintroduced to these hills and valleys. We occasionally see fox, groundhogs, chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits and lots of birds, including an occasional eagle. ☆ Winters are cold and amazingly beautiful!.. It may be cold outside, but it isxearm and cozy inside. ☆ When snow falls it quickly turns the landscape into a Winter Wonderland. \* Cataloochee Ski Resort is only 10 Minutes from the Cabin. Tony's Tube World is only 5 Minutes from the cabin. There is a hill out front for building snowmen and sleds. The chalet is warm and cozy, well insulated, gas heat. The chalet offers a Relaxing place to Rest and Relax if you prefer spending time tucked away in a mountain retreat, letting the day slip away. We have Fast, Dependable Wifi. Smart TVs. Cable and lots of Apps. The chalet is also a great home base for those who are adventure bound. There is a gently sloping hill out front where kids can sled in the Winter when we have fresh snow fall. Other times parents enjoy having somewhere for children to play within eye sight of parents. Everyone, all ages, enjoy the deck and everyone enjoys the rockers and picnic table out front. The short drive to Restaurants, gas, shops and the Parkway is convenient. We are close enough to the shops in Maggie to be convenient but far enough away to enjoy open mountain views. Safety is important and we feel we are in a safe location. The living room has two large Recliners, Rockers, a Large plush Couch, Wifi, Cable TV / Lots of Stations and Apps. The kitchen is well stocked with all the things needed to prepare home cooked meals. Full size Washer/Dryer Full size Dishwasher Stove, Pots, Pans, Dishes, Large Crock Pot, Toaster, Blender. Iron, ironing Board, (Blow dryer) Coffee, Tea, Sugar and Sweeteners are provided. There are spices in the cabinet. \* Large Cooler for outings and a Picnic Basket. Charcoal grill is located at the side of the cabin. \*The kitchen has a large round table that seats four and a side drop leaf table that seats two. \* The Side Table is an excellent place to catch up on work if you work from home or if you want to browse the internet, put together a puzzle or play games. \* Gast Dependable WIFI. There is a Master Bedroom downstairs that has a Queen Bed and a Half Bath with a sink and toilet. We always stay here and it feels like home. There are so many places close by to visit and enjoy, but it is equally enjoyable to just sit out front and enjoy the view and the sounds of nature. Sometimes you might wake up to an elk in the front yard and other times you'll see little Chipmunks scurrying around. We love to take a little walk down to the creek across the road and just listen to the rushing water. The Blue Ridge Parkway entrance is just down the road, and Cherokee is a quick little trip to some fun shopping and lots of Native American history. We love to go gem mining and we always visit Waynesville which has so many options for lunch or dinner. This chalet is perfectly situated for so many fun activities for people of all ages. This chalet is an older building but it’s beautifully kept and sparkling clean. It has a large kitchen, one and a half bathrooms, and a private bedroom as well as two beds upstairs in the loft. The place is so cute with lots of little decor details that make it pleasant: plenty of throw pillows, pretty curtains, comfy couch and recliners. There is lots of natural light from all the windows and the view out the front windows is stunning. It was also nice that dogs are allowed—my two hounds were as comfortable as I was. We even got to see some elk walking through the property one morning. The location is wonderful: literally minutes from the Cataloochee Ski area and even closer to “downtown” Maggie Valley and Waynesville. We will definitely stay here again! ##### emily b.
