Great Stay!
The staff is very kind! No elevators but they will gladly help you with your bags with a smile on their face. Reception area is cozy and cute! Room was very clean with a big closet to store your luggage. It’s a fantastic location with everything nearby and you can walk to. Taxi and buses easily accessible as well. Walls are a bit thin and you can hear a lot outside. However, it’s worth it. Would stay again!

Staff member at check in was very kind and helpful. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was cramped but adequate. Overall we had a very nice experience.

A little secret in Madrid
Great location, friendly staff. Very clean rooms. The reality is that if you go to Madrid, spend the money on the experience. Is a safe city so the best option is to stay in a hostal to get energy back for 8 hrs of sleep or a short siesta at the room. Don’t get discourage by the other reviews or the homeless. This place is worth the money.

Fantastic Location and Value
This small hotel is located in the heart of historic downtown Madrid, just a block from Plaza Mayor and short walk from the Sol metro station. From the hotel you can easily walk, hop a bus, or ride the subway to any of the major tourist sites in Madrid. Now, do remember that you are not paying for a four-star hotel and that you should not expect the amenities in that sort of establishment, and you will be very pleased with this excellent boutique inn. Yes, you have to walk up several flights of stairs and the you don't have a big screen TV in the room, but the hotel is clean, the front desk staff is friendly and helpful (and speaks far better English than I speak Spanish), the air conditioning is comfortable, and the location and price are unbeatable. So, if you are in Madrid to see the city rather than to spend time in a luxury hotel suite, this is the price for you. While the homeless bed down in the square around the hotel late at night, do not be fooled. Madrid is a safe and hospitable city--one of the great urban centers in the world. At La Perla Austriana you are in the heart of the museums, architectural monuments, shopping areas, terrace cafes, and historic sites that make Madrid a special experience.

Great 5 days
Perfect location near Plaza del Sol and Plaza Mayor, but in a little quiet Plaza of its own. Hector and Mars were wonderful especially Mars his directions to everything were perfect and easy to follow. Only drawback back no elevator

Exceptionally nice and friendly staff, who make you feel like home from the very beginning. Quiet rooms due to good isolation of windows. Perfect location right in the middle of Madrid.

Great hotel, wonderful staff, highly recommend
This hotel was such a treat! The staff were so friendly and very helpful. When we arrived, the front desk attendant spent about 20 minutes reviewing a map with us, where to go and things to see. The room was clean, large, and very comfortable for a several day stay. It was also so conveniently located that we couldn't have asked for a better stay. At the end of our trip, we were given detailed directions to get back to the airport.

Basic by comfortable in a great location!
This hotel is in a great location a short walk from Puerta del Sol, it's metro connections and the busy heart of Madrid, and just around the corner from Plaza Mayor. The staff were very friendly and and helpful and helped ensure that check-in and check-out were conducted with a minimum of fuss. The bed was comfortable, and as my room was on the interior side, it meant I was not disturbed by noise from the busy square outside. The room itself was small, but as I only returned to the hotel for sleeping, that wasn't a problem. What was a problem however, was the fact the room only had one electrical socket, a nightmare if you travel with a lot of devices as I do!

Great Front desk staff, great location!
The best thing about this hotel is the front desk staffs specially Max from Ecuador and the gentleman from Santiago de Compostela whose name I forgot (sorry). The location is also perfect for everything I wanted to visit. The rooms are small but for the price it's good. I had problem with the Wi-fi but Max did his best to fix the problem RIGHT AWAY! That was really good of him Thanks Max!

A very central Hostal and great value for money. 1 minute walk to the main Plaza, 15 minutes to the Prado and 10 minutes to the Palacio Real. Restaurants everywhere and a 5 minute walk to Puerta de Sol and all the shopping in that area. Staff are very helpfull.

The hotel is basic but there is free wifi, you can't beat the location as just around the corner from Plaza Mayor. The staff were lovely, couldn't do enough for you. I would stay again, just don't expect luxury, but given I was in Madrid to sight see and not spend time in the hotel it suited me perfectly

It was just behind of Plaza de mayor and 5 minutes walking from Plaza de Sol metro station! So there's many stores around hotel and quite convenient. But room wasn't very clean. When I moved a side table next to bed I found lots of dusts. Staff were so kind and nice. Overall it's good if it's short stay for sightseeing with friends!

The reception service was amazing
Everyone at reception and especially Antonio were super amazing and kind to show where attractions are and the workings of the metro. They all remember who you are. Also greets you when you enter or leave the lobby area. The hotel was always warm, clean and tidy. The room is basic. Yet The area was convienent to the plaza mayor. Please note there are stairs up to the reception and to your room. No elevator. Because the hotel is near the square it may be a bit noisy at night.

3 night stay in the heart of Madrid. Steps away from the Plaza Mayor! The front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Very pleased to share information about the City, and very helpful in any way you'd hope for. I emailed a day in advance enquiring about the nearby parking and received a prompt and helpful response. Highly recommended for a central location on the cheap. Rooms have small but useful en suites and plenty of room to relax.

Excellent location in Madrid
I had a wonderful stay at hotel la perla Asturiana. True, the hotel does not have an elevator but the staff generously helped me out with my luggage. Moreover, they also very kindly resolved a situation related to the access to the air conditionning during a heatwave. I did walk around a bit to find the place the first time but it is so close to Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol that I could very easily find my way back afterward. The room was rather small (something that I do not really mind) but clean and comfortable. I strongly recommend this hotel to discover Madrid and enjoy a comfortable stay, a good night sleep as well as friendly and welcoming staff.

I used this hotel for my 3 days' trip to Madrid and I was quite stressed arriving as I was a girl traveling alone. However the lovely receptionist reassured me immediately and -before I even asked- he provided me with a city map. He gave me all the tips and the times to get in the biggest museums for free. Thanks to him I visited every museum for free and felt so secure and happy! I paid an incredibly low price for my stay and I was surprised to see a lovely cozy warm room with all necessary facilities including hair dryer, bath gel, and cleaning service/ fresh toiletries changed daily. It's a budget hotel, therefore no luxuries in the menu but it's got all a person needs to get a good rest and explore the city. The hotel is right in the centre of the square, perfect for safety if you travel alone. There are plenty of coffee shops, restaurants, ham shops and churrerias right right next to the hotel, so I didn't mind at all not having breakfast provided at the hotel. All the souvenir shops are right there too so no need to travel for shopping! The receptionists are the most friendly, amazing and reassuring people I've ever met. Overall great stay and I highly recommend this hotel. Will be back with friends and boyfriend!
