Steps from the bus station to Machu Picchu and a very short walk to the train station. Edilberto, the owner, was absolutely terrific. He welcomed us personally, went out of his way to get breakfast for us to take with us on our early morning bus, and watched our belongings while we went up to the site. A truly warm and caring gentleman. Perfect location, good night of sleep, and terrific host. But this property is a hostel. Not a hotel as advertised by Expedia. Room is quite basic. The most challenging part was that we couldn’t get hot water working despite following the property instructions. The location is convenient but this is a small town and pretty much everything is walkable.
