The Cornmill is right down by the shore of the Cree estuary and Garlieston is a fabulous old village with the Harbour Inn providing good food (advisable to book, though, as our landlady kindly told us). Lovely walks, bike rides and places of historical interest in the vicinity. Katy at the Cornmill was kindness itself - her breakfasts are fantastic and if there's anything else you need, you only needed to ask. Hoping to go back, not least to take advantage of her...

« Very neat and clean, easy check in. Nice quite town and ample parking. Co op is feet away. Things to improve: No ventilation system in room which lead to everything becoming moist and floor becomingslimy duento moisturiser. You have to keep window open to ensure ventilation but that lead to insects coming in. No coffee or tea as cans were empty, although there is coffee machine. Milk, coffee tea could have been provided in common kitchen area. I will definitely stay again but owners need to...

« Staff were helpful and very polite and friendly. The hotel is basic with a straightforward menu but perfect for a stop over on the way to the ferry. Good breakfast, served promptly at our pre-ordered time. Found Newton Stewart a little down at heel, but we didn’t walk very far past the supermarket. »
