Staff at front desk and restaurant acted as though they wished no one was there. At check in, evidently, their credit card system can't distinguish between Visa and Discover. He told me to insert my card and I did, seconds later it beeped and I removed my card. The desk clerk asked me if I used a Visa card, and I said no, Discover. He huffed and said hold on. I told him I have a Visa if that's easier. He said NO, just stick in the Discover now, with an extremely hateful tone. He then handed me my key cards without a word, looked past me and said next.
Later went to the restaurant for dinner and learned that their computer system crashed and they couldn't open until it was back up. IT had been called and we could wait. After 30 minutes of waiting with about 30 other people, I went back to the hostess stand and asked for a menu so that we would be ready once they opened. The manager looked at me sternly and said no, we are not going to open tonight and I should look elsewhere for dinner. Closest alternative is 15 miles through curvey mountain roads. She didn't even tell anyone else waiting, so I went around telling everyone else there. One of the main reasons we chose the Lodge, was the convenience of having dinner right on the Parkway and watching the sunset over the lake while dining. Didn't get to experience any of it and the staff didn't care at all. We were expecting a magical experience and were deeply disappointed and insulted as well.
