Completely rebuilt, this artisan-crafted cabin was spared no expense in its attention to detail. From the overall design to the hand-forged forged ironwork, painstaking care was given to every square inch. The result is something more akin to a crafted wood sculpture than a mere dwelling. A spacious main room is built around the granite-faced wood-burning fireplace with French doors that open directly out to the Big Lake. Each of its 2 bedrooms has its own, private spa-like bath, complete with deep soaking tub. Outside, the charm is in full force … Not only is WoodSong's patio a stone's throw from Lake Superior's lapping waves, but it also has a lake-side covered porch. Repurposed from an original, historic North Shore fish house — one of the few that remain standing from that bygone era — time with coffee, wine, and friends is about as close to North Shore ecstasy as it gets! As idyllic as WoodSong is, the cabin itself is only the beginning … WoodSong is situated in the heart of the most legendary and spectacular section of the entire North Shore. Hundreds of miles of Sawtooth Mountains trails (hiking in the summer, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter) are accessible right out the front door of the cabin. Cascade Lodge Restaurant & Pub is an easy 1/2-mile walk and features great food, drinks, and frequent live music. A trail leading to Cascade Falls is only 1 mile from WoodSong's door. And within a 30-minute drive, everything the North Shore is known for is accessible: world-class hiking, fishing, kayaking, biking trails, skiing, galleries, restaurants, NorthHouse Folk School, and a vibrant live music scene. After all, WoodSong sits in the heart of Cook County and Grand Marais, which was named by Travel & Leisure magazine as "America's Best Small Lake Town" in 2023! \-- NorthLight Lodging is a family-operated, boutique hospitality operation consisting of several guest cabins along Lake Superior’s North Shore in northern Minnesota. From sunrise to sunset, the scenery never disappointed.Even with a few rainy days everything about the property exceeded our expectations and made for a relaxing, memorable trip. I loved Plein air painting literally within feet of the property! Close to Grand Marais and so many other favorite locations. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I call it “Lux Rustic!” It definitely has that Up North Cabin vibe, but with a luxury twist. Very cozy, clean and comfortable.My husband and I stayed for our 40th anniversary celebration and it did not disappoint. Highlights were connecting with nature and each other . During our 4-night stay we didn’t see another human unless we left the property. The Lake Superior shoreline was ours to enjoy; we felt like the only people on the planet. We spent a lot of time in the fish house and exploring the shoreline. The water is so majestic and healing. We absolutely did not want to leave.As far as the cabin goes, it had every amenity imaginable. Plenty of glassware, cookware, fridge and freezer space for the two of us. We enjoyed a fire in the fireplace each evening and I soaked and relaxed every night in the huge bathtub.The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was set up very efficiently and feels roomy.We had a couple of questions and the host responded right away with tips and offers to assist.It was incredible and we plan on returning as soon as we can. ##### Terri F. Only two places we go to every year seems like home away from home. One is the Island Inn Sanibel Island and the other is Woodsong in Lutsen. This will be a yearly vacation for us now. We were even lucky enough to get a Northern Lights show on Friday night. Every thing about the cabin is perfection and beautifully maintained and appointed. Location was great for a quick hike in the state park, but the best part was spending hours exploring rocks on the shore.
