Our first time in a four star hotel! We didn't know what exactly makes for a four star hotel. Was it the scuffed hallways? Or the stained carpet? Maybe the traditional habit of failing to have proper double beds? Perhaps it was the view of the iron stairwell framed by a brick wall that was delightfully visited by authentic Galician hotel workers on their cigarette breaks. My guess was the graceful shrug of the shoulders of the desk girl when informed that our room had no air conditioning. Practiced, graceful and effortless, the hallmark of a true four star hotel, the hallmark of Mendez Nunez!
Practically, location was good and so was the breakfast. But bite, kick, scream if they try and put you in the rooms ending 15 or 17. Test the a/c right away and demand a change of room if it doesn't work, for they are preying upon your politeness to shaft you with a substandard room.
