great location right on the boardwalk/beach

Posted 21-Apr-2016
Pros: the small kitchen is a plus. great rooftop
Location: this part of Venice beach is quite at night but very busy during the day. Rent a bike and enjoy a ride on the beach.
Parking is challenging, otherwise all good. Venice beach is still different, kind off funky.

Danielle in the front office was awesome! She was welcoming and provided information about local restaurants and shopping. Our room was very clean, and every amenity provided. We felt like the staff really appreciated their customers.

Nice Hotel on Board Walk

Posted 15-Feb-2016
Cons: Better driving direction to the hotel.
The location of this hotel is at the boardwalk and therefore inaccessible by car. You need to find this hotel at the rear entrance on Speedway. The office is super friendly and they will help you to find a parking space 2 blocks away at $15 a day.

A bit dissapointing.

Posted 26-Jan-2016 on Hotels
The design of the room was somewhat nice...brick exposed walls inside wood floors. One of the main reasons I booked the hotels was because it had a kitchenette. My plan was to take food so my nephew and I could have an early breakfast and hit the waves. When we woke up we fould the fridge was broken so all our food was spoiled.I brought this to the receptionist and he said he couldn't do anything about it and charged me in full, including 20 dollars for parking where you have to park your car 3 blocks away and walk back to the hotel behind an alley. The bed was stiff, the pillows smelled like the cases hadn't been washed and the floor felt like it hadn't been swept from the previous tenants visit.I don't think the direct beach access was worth all the negative. For a couple hundred bucks you can stay somewhere much nicer and friendlier...just need to drive to the beach. You're gonna have to pay for parking in any case.

Hello Seth. This is disappointing experience. I wish I had a chance to talk with you that day. I don't believe the problem was related to the fridge being broken (we haven't had to replace one in more than a year) I believe you may have just forgotten to turn it on. That aside, I'm sorry things weren't better with your stay.

Love this hotel. A lot of character. Looks like they are in the midsts of upgrading a few things. Would stay again.

Funky Fun

Posted 3-Jan-2016 on Hotels
We checked into the hotel while in town for a Dead & Company concert and New Year's Eve. We felt fortunate to find street parking less than a block away. So lucky, in fact, that we left the car parked for the duration of our visit and took Uber when we needed to get out and about. The desk clerk was super friendly on check in and offered all kinds of help/info to all parties checking in. Our room, though a bit small, was nice and clean. The "partial" beach view was actually quite nice and expansive. Two take always: 1. The old elevator was a real hoot to use & operate. 2. The rooftop deck was FABULOUS. We were the only visitors for about an hour of afternoon sun and appreciated the view and the loungers. If I lived in the area, I would want to rent the space for a party. Of course, it would require off site parking and a shuttle, but a fun space for a private get together!

Funky Hotel on the Boardwalk

Posted 4-Dec-2015
Great location with a cool vibe and great staff! The roof top lounge is a must hangout. The 103 year elevator even has a name and she works! Love the history and the area.

1)Location excellent. 2)Food choices not that vast. 3)Too much trash everywhere.Unpleasant smell on the beach walk. 4)NO parking.Areas for free & paid overnight parking available. 5)Hotel very old.The Lift was most interesting.103 y/o antique kind where you had to close 2 doors (1 with hook lock & 1 with metal railings).Works well. 6)Don't expect a card key.Only old school keys which was okay. 7)Lots of holes on ceilings & walls on hallways not patched up. 8)Room nice & spacious.Brick walls & white shutters.Beds okay.Extra roll-away bed available if you need it free of charge. 9)BEDDINGS ESP. THE DUVET COVER WAS FILTHY DIRTY.Hair all over.So worn out.Lint all over.Looks like hasn't been washed for a year.We immediately took it off & placed on the floor. 10)Water in Shower works this way: Takes awhile for heater to work.Goes on & off while using.Beware for next person using.Going to be cold & have to wait for it to heat up again. In fairness to the hotel, they were transparent with this information when you check in. 12)Toilet seats stained. They could have at least replaced to make it more appealing.Water pressure weak so flush hard & long. 13)Room with kitchenware.Clean first before use.Can opener was full of rust (as in really rusted).Hotel needs to replace with new. 14)NO HEATER in room.Only a portable small heater which you can plug in. 15)NO ICE like the free ice you can get from other regular hotels.

Affordable with great location

It was a short stay, just for two people. The location was great! Matt was super helpful and friendly. The room was cute, enough room for two. And our favorite part was the rooftop deck! I would definitely stay there again
