Hotel staff were very friendly, the room was very clean, and incredibly loud. It’s an old building, which meant you could hear the guests above you (rudely at 1am…) added to the street noise (which was unbelievable even with earphones) and the AC which wasn’t efficient, it made sleeping next to impossible. Great location, but won’t be coming back.

Short Walk from Surfrider Beach

Stayed here for my surfing trip to Surfrider Beach, about a 20 minute walk but much more affordable than the closer options. A comfortable place to stay with helpful staff. Would stay here again and recommend.

Modest but simple, classic, comfortable, clean and (relatively affordable) beach and ocean facing motel with plenty of parking which is in scant supply elsewhere on this strip. Malibu Pier, beaches and park within walking distance.

The M is a true beach motel. It is on the inland side of Pacific Coast Hwy - with a number of restaurants within walking distance about a mile each way). The bathroom was clean and the room was comfortable.

Great location!

Great hotel for a weekend getaway. Located right across the street from the beach. Very close to all the popular dining restaurants. As warned it is on PCH so you will hear the cars driving by. But that goes for any hotel on PCH. Would recommend for a little getaway.

Great location!

Great little hotel for a weekend getaway. Located across the street from the beach. Very close to all the popular dining restaurants. As warned it is on PCH so you will hear the cars driving by. But that goes for any hotel on PCH. Would recommend for a little getaway.

Easy walk to Dreamland — a must visit — the beach and Malibu Pier. Great restaurant options. Sorta hidden, rustic upper patio great for viewing the ocean early morning wildlife and the sunset. Porpoise pods and diving pelicans!

Our room smelled like Ben Gay. When we complained we were told that the cleaning staff had left for the day. When I asked for fresh sheets in hopes that it would help with the smell I was told that the cleaning staff had left for the day and could only be offered fresh pillow cases. The room was very dark with insufficient lighting. The bed was atrociously uncomfortable. You would think that with all of the Ben Gay in the room I wouldn’t have woken up with a stiff back. Nevertheless I did. I get it- location, location, location. I was there for a wedding. Next time I’ll commute to the event. Never again!
