Very Nice overall, except...

Pros: Overall quality was very good. Hotel staff were very accommodating, except for the beach (see below)
Cons: The beach "experience" left quite a bit to be desired. Required a shuttle to get to, not enough chairs for guests, food options, poor staff were bad
The overall stay was very nice. Excellent location, well kept with very nice amenities. The hotel staff were very accommodating. One area where Fairmont fell very short - The beach experience left quite a bit to be desired - required a shuttle, poor staff, food option through an outside vendor was awful (VERY LONG wait for orders). Not enough chairs for guests... Would still recommend hotel.

Good location

The location to shopping, dining and the beach is hard to beat however it is not worth the price is the rooms. We upgraded to an ocean view and we were above the Bungalows which is a bar on the property and it was so loud well in to the morning (2am and later) that unless the AC was on you could not sleep. The pool area left a lot to be desired which is why we spent all of our time off the property.

Hotel a eviter suite a 1200 dollars et pas de conf

Premiere chambre une suite rez de chaussee donnant sur la rue Apres avour delaande a changer moyennant quand meme 250 dollars par nuit en supplement ( et apres avoir negocie car voulait 360) on se retrouve avec une chambre juste au dessus du systele air conditionne de l hotel Impossible de dormur sans boules quies. Suite mediocre avec petite salle de bain avec un seul lavabo et une baugnoire ou on entre pour prendre douche. Et en plus le pommeau de douche fuyait. telephone dans chambre ne fonctionnait pas. Apero 32 dillars 2 verres de vin et il a fallu demander des chips apportes dans une vulgaire assiette On rajoute un oarking a 45 dollars et un pret de velo ou il faut redonner carte passeport etc et on a eu le pire hotel 5 etoiles de notre vie On avait ete au casa del mar et la c est un vrai 5 etoiles Nous sommes au mandarin oriental et la aussi et pas a 1200 dollars la nuit On devrait enkever des etoiles a cet hotel FAirmont

Super Lage

Super Lage und sehr guter Service, amerikanisch eben! Aber - die Zimmer sind für Leute mit großen Koffern einfach zu klein, insbesondere vor dem Hintergrund fehlender Schränke. Zweiter Makel, Ohrenstöpsel nicht vergessen! Zimmer zur falschen Seite und man ist jeden Abend mitten in einer Bar für Externe, die auf dem Hotelgelände ist. Ansonsten, die Lage des Hotels und sein Ambiente sind super!

Loved the understated elegance of the hotel. Location was perfect for our needs. The service was excellent. Shout out to Chris at front desk for making our stay a memorable one.

Gorgeous, luxury hotel - pet policy misleading...

Pros: The newly renovated bungalows are amazing. Love the hotel grounds, the staff, restaurants, lobby lounge and seating areas. Could stay there all day.
Cons: Be honest about the pet policy. I totally understand needing to sign something like that so they're covered if anything happens, but it was misleading
Location: Very close to 3rd street promenade - great shops, restaurants. Close to the beach but a further walk to the pier (nice to be farther from the noise).
Stayed in the bungalows for our anniversary. We loved it and we can't wait to go back. The only complaint I had was that I wish they had been more honest about their pet policy. They are pet friendly. You can bring any dog - no weight limit, no added charge. I called ahead to say we were bringing our dog and they said we'd be asked to sign a waiver saying we're responsible for any damages to the room - that's reasonable. Well, when we checked in, the waiver actually said we agreed to not leave the dog unattended for any amount of time in the room. It also said that dogs were not allowed at any place around the hotel that served food (including the Fig restaurant, the Lobby Lounge, and the pool area). After one night, we realized we'd be stuck in our room for the entire trip since our dog can't stay in the room alone and can't be anywhere in the hotel either, so we decided to take 2 hours out of our trip to drive her home and frantically try to find a pet sitter. We get back to the hotel and we see at least 5 dogs eating with their owners at the outdoor seating area by the Lobby Lounge and by the pool. We immediately talked to someone at the front desk to explain our confusion and they said, "we don't have a policy like that" so we made them pull out their pet policy and read it and they said "oh, well we don't enforce this at all". Well, that woulda been nice to know before we drove our dog home. We WILL be back (with our dog) because we absolutely LOVED this hotel.

To clarify, your pet is always welcome to dine with us on the patios, so they can hang out at the Lobby Lounge by our koi pond while you try out our infamous Fish Tacos! We do not advise dogs being left unattended in the room solely for the purpose of ensuring our other guests are not disturbed in the event your pet misses you and starts to get restless and bark. Should this event occur, we normally have our Risk Management team remove the dog from the room and watch him until you get back. Great hotel in Santa Monica

This is a great hotel close to restaurants, shopping, beach, and the pier. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I will stay there again.

Dated pretentious hotel close to beach

Pros: Prime location, professional staff.
Cons: Overpriced even by Santa Monica standards. Public rooms are tasteless and shopworn.
Location: Prime location on the ocean and near bars, restaurants, shopping of Santa Monica.
When I arrived at 4:30 PM my room, supposedly available at least from 3:00 on, was not ready. This was a problem because I was just in from a long flight and needed to rest and clean up for a dressy early evening party. Staff were very nice but overwhelmed by other stressed-out guests with similar problems. I had a long wait in the lounge but was finally upgraded to a room that seemed recently renovated.

Terrible staff

Woken up from my sleep and asked several times to stop slamming room door and threatened to be kicked out when it was not me. valet lost my car and had me wait for over 45 minutes
