Unsafe for Families – Misleading Listing with No Accountability
We booked this Manhattan Beach rental for a family of five and our pets, expecting a safe, comfortable beach stay based on the listing. Sadly, our experience was the opposite—and we ended up immediately leaving and relocating to a Residence Inn.Parking was one of the first red flags. The listing states that parking is included, but it failed to mention that the space is only suitable for a compact car (think Prius). As a family of five traveling in a full-size SUV, we had no way to park on-site. When I reached out for help, the response was to park ¾ mile away with 2–3 hour parking limits and move the car each time—impossible for any normal family, let alone one with kids and pets.The third-floor unit was a furnace. After hauling all our belongings up three flights of stairs, we found the top-floor rental unbearably hot with no ventilation or cross-breeze. The property manager suggested we open the windows and use a fan. That advice was both unhelpful and unsafe.There were three large operable windows in the main living area, each directly above furniture—a table, a couch, and a chair—creating a direct fall risk for children. There were no screens, no window guards, no safety devices of any kind, despite being three stories up. It’s a terrifying setup for families with kids.I honestly can’t tell you much more about the amenities or accommodations, because we didn’t stay.
