Had the perfect stay, refreshing and calm environment, Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Short walk to Farmers Market and The Grove. Will definitely stay again.

Appalling experience! Arrived at 1.00pm and told room wasn’t ready, went back at 2.00pm and told room was nearly ready. Went back at 3.00pm, watched someone else checking in, told there were no rooms available and they would put us in another hotel a few blocks away. Told our room had a maintenance issue, when I asked what this was they couldn’t tell me.

My stay at this property was excellent!! It was everything I wanted it to be. Location and the size of the property were key to a successful visit for me. Zach and the rest of the staff were professional and courteous. I have no complaints!!

A uniquely designed hotel with friendly staff. The location is steps away from Trafer Joes, Sidecar Donuts, the farmers maker and the Grove shopping. It was the perfect location for a little weekend getaway.

I really enjoyed my four night stay. It’s a really nice property in what feels like a safe area next to everything you need. I loved walking to the Famers Market and the Grove, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and restaurants. There is a courtyard pool heated to 80 degrees that would have been nice to use but the weather was rainy. Staff is not friendly but nice enough. Parking is very expensive, even if you just need to stop in for a short while. Overnight parking was $45. There is a lot of noise from traffic-if you’re a light sleeper keep that in mind. The bar has good food and drinks and a very nice staff and I’d definitely stay here again.

This is our second time staying here and as much as we appreciate the nice, clean and modern room, surrounding area and beautiful property in the middle of the busy Fairfax area, the service at the front desk was so disappointing. They seemed uninterested and were definitely not as friendly and welcoming as the staff who worked here a couple of years ago. They also gave us the wrong information about parking as the instructions conflicted with what the valet attendant told us. It seemed like there was no communication between the two which was confusing for us as guests.

My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay at Short Stories. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and allowed plenty of space. The courtyard area is serene and a great place to enjoy complimentary coffee in the morning. It is a short walk to The Grove for shopping/dining/entertainment. The hotel restaurant was charming and a great place to end the day with a beverage. We would absolutely return.

Very nice boutique hotel with a lovely courtyard and bar. Rooms are tastefully decorated and modern. Lots of attention to detail. Beds were also comfortable.

*WOMEN BEWARE *BURGLARY* I recently stayed @Short Stories by myself while on a business trip in LA. Seemingly a charming, lovely place and I would have had an entirely different approach to this rev had things been playing out differently. At some point during my last day, while away working, my room was broken into. Weird things were taken, nothing of any real value. The staff at the hotel were great when I first called it in. But now that I am home and trying to reach a solution (reimbursement for things stolen) I am being completely ghosted. I have filed a police report and really want people to know about this before booking. There is a real security issue at the Short Stories. I will follow up with resolution but for now... AVOID AT ALL COST! This will continue to happen without any accountability from the hotel.

This was a nearly perfect stay. The property is tucked and feels secluded, but in a perfect spot. So close to so many things, but also a comfortable place to do nothing. I am really frustrated with the communication of the staff and the exorbitant extra charges. I can’t fathom why there would be extra amenities charges tacked on each day for our 4 day trip. Seems tacky, because there were no amenities. And I would have used the $10/ day at the bar had some one told me. Furthermore, the staff was unhelpful and unresponsive to my complaints. This trip was an anniversary trip and a big expenditure. We do well, but are not wealthy. The hidden fees put a damper on an otherwise amazing trip!

A type of a boutique hotel, room that I had was small but comfortable even with a king size bed. Available soft bathrobe is a nice touch. Fully stock refrigerator with various drinks. The dresser in my room did not have drawers, which I though was a small inconvenience. The area is convenient with the Grove Farmers Market with various foods eateries and bars and the outdoor shopping plaza across the street. About a mile from the hotel is the Peterson Automotive museum and the Museum of the Academy Awards. They are both walk able from the hotel.

Beautiful hotel, and VERY friendly, accommodating staff. Extremely clean and updated rings and grounds. We loved the open courtyard. Parking was expensive. Would've liked a microwave in the room. Highly recommend, and will stay again next time we're in LA.

Property is nicely renovated. Our room was outside the main building in a motel like block however it had been beautifully painted on the outside and inside had new wood flooring and nicely finished bathrooms. Linens were also very good quality. Robes but no slippers. Coffee was downstairs outside back in the hotel building. Perfectly fine for a busy weekend shopping outing. Pool seemed a little small but functional if you have kids and need them to let off steam. Front desk were polite but not friendly. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Second time at Short Stories - it’s our favorite place to stay in LA! Right in the middle of La Brea which can feel so chaotic, but as soon as you step inside the hotel it’s calm and lovely. Staff is awesome, property is beautiful and clean, pool is heated. We’ll stay here whenever we visit :)

Fantastic location with great staff.
Wonderful service by the front desk and the bar. Our only complaint was the beds were not comfortable, but we are very picky bed people and the heat could either be on or off, but would not go at auto, so it would get very hot in the middle of the night and we turn it off and then we get very cold. Fantastic location!

Turn the page & stay @ Short Stories Hotel
It’s always a pleasure to stay at the Short Stories Hotel. From their friendly staff to their comfy rooms, they really do make you feel at home. Plus, you can walk to the best doughnut shop on the planet, Sidecar, right down the street. And, don’t get me started on The Farmer’s Market & The Grove. Loved every minute of my stay!

Solid hotel with room for improvement
Hotel was very cute and the branding is lovely. The lobby smells incredible and the hotel is clean. They charge nearly $50/day for parking, so heads up there. The folks who work at the front desk are fine but very "LA" -- they think they're cool and are a bit cold.

There is a Trader Joe on the same block. The grove is across the street. Location is excellent and very walkable. Room decor is very chic but very small. Staff is very friendly and helpful and managed to get us a bigger room.

Rose Bowl Game Trip
Very nice hotel in West Hollywood. Recently renovated, so rooms and lobby are in great condition. Good location near The Grove and Farmer's Market for shopping and restaurants. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were cleaned daily which was appreciated. Only thing we did not like was we were unable to get ESPN on our TV in the room. Had to go to a bar to watch the Lions game.
