Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
We stayed at the Chamberlain 3 nights, for business travel. Unfortunately we were very disappointed but couldn’t change hotels during the Oscars. This hotel used to be old apartments, and it’s honestly quite obvious. Any renovations couldn’t mask how old that hotel felt and smelt. We were shocked by the intense old home/musky smell 24/7 on our floor (floor 3). It was so strong, nearly unbearable. Like an old retirement home. Right at the elevator there was an archaic vent blasting that stale air right as you arrived on the floor. My wife and I felt our clothes even began smelling like our room as well. Everything felt old. The decor was decent but still outdated, for the most part. Definitely not worth the expense… these rooms aren’t cheap! The bedding lacked any luxurious layers (just 2 thin sheet-like layers) and uncomfortable pillows. The carpet was hideous. The blow dryer barely worked/was dirty. The front desk smelled like pot every day and no one greets guests on arrival (opening the front glass doors - which weren’t electric, etc). I’m not conservative… it just wasn’t welcoming. There’s so many ways to create a beautiful and iconic smell & atmosphere in a hotel lobby and on floors… from air purifiers to candles/fragrant sticks.
This hotel needs a new perspective and considerable help with renovations! It was rainy so we couldn’t fully use the pool, although we did go up to sit outside… it’s definitely the highlight of the hotel I’m sure when it’s sunny.
