Room average. Sauna ,breakfast,dinner great. Property is clean . Italian cook is very nice and cares a lot about the guest. Two wonderful waitresses from Thailand and Zambia were very nice and friendly. The guy at the reception in the evening during checkin was typical grumpy but spoke English. Eyes closed will book again if in the area. Something about the place which has a. Ice relaxing aura to it

Great place!
Great place, lots to do on the hotel, good location for hiking, very nice pond outside, nice staff, good breakfast, free parking and the even let me charge my car for free! There was no aircondition but it was no problem as the windows had mosquito nets.

Fun family vacation!
Lukas is very professional and went out of his way to ensure that we had a great stay. The restaurant food was top notch and well priced for the portions. The breakfast buffet had a wide variety to select from. The kids loved the zip-line, darts life sized chess set, and 7 dwarfs mine. The huge slide was a hit. We also enjoyed hiking in the woods. The property has a beautiful view overlooking Lohr am Main. The one issue was that the shower was extremely tight with no room to move. The room and bathroom were very clean. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again when visiting the Spessart area.

Lohr Stay - August 2018
Nestled on the hillside overlooking Lohr. Pleasant terraced area adjacent to the restaurant and bar. Definitely stay there again.

We were very pleased with our stay at Franziskushohe. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. We saw on the internet the hotel would pick up at the train station, but we didn't realize we were supposed to give them two days notice. The hotel picked us up anyway saving us a taxi ride or a fifty minute uphill walk. Being slightly outside town the hotel which had at one time been a sanitarium was quiet and the grounds were very nice with recreational activities available. Dinner was reasonable, but the included breakfast was exceptional. We would recommend the hotel and would like to return to spend more time.

Very picturesque.
The hotel is beautifully situated on a hill in a forest. The windy road leading up hotel could be better lit on a night as there is a trench on the right! Parking is free and the food was very nice. Rooms were clean but on the small side. The breakfast buffet is quite pricey at €16 but it's absolutely gigantic. I would probably come again for a family holiday to go for a swim in the lake and walk on in the surrounding woods.

We booked last minute. We had a wonderful stay. The scenery was amazing the food was great and the service was helpful and engaging. The location was close to tourist attractions and was a reprieve from the busy urban centres.

Beautiful area, nice views. Friendly staff, spacious rooms. Good restaurant and wine selection (also by the glass). Only remark: sauna was not complimentary, which was not clear from the description on hotels.com

Romantic Strasse trip
We stayed for one night to begin our Romantic Strasse trip by car. It was a delight. The restaurant was wonderful. We had a fantastic dinner and the breakfast buffet was amazing. The room was very plain but the location very charming. The drive was beautiful. We thought it was closer to Wurzburg so when we arrived it was one of the most wonderful surprises of our trip.

No temperature control or air conditioning. Staff spoke little English and was not very friendly. Hotel was a 8 EU cab ride to city center. Shower was tiny. No room amenities like shampoo, conditioner, lotion etc, The view if the city was spectacular though

Nice hotel in German Countryside
We spent 4 nights at this hotel in Lohr am Main. The room was nice and big--gigantic by European standards. The restaurant was good for Frankische cooking, and eating outdoors on the veranda was very peaceful. The hotel is quite a bargain.

Hotel in Lohr am Main
The view from our room was spectacular on top of the hill Great play area for kids if traveling will little ones Outdoor area to sit and relax was beautiful 9lounge chairs). My husband AND i DROVE SEVERAL HOURS SO WHEN WE ARRIVED AT THE hotel we were very pleased to be able to relax in such a peaceful environmnet at the hotel Room was very spacious for 2 adults and 1 child Dinner was 5 star at the hotel restaurant Wait staff at restaurant were exceptional and very professional Bar staff very accomodating and willing to help

Great hotel in lovely location.
The hotel is in a beautiful location, set in its own extensive grounds in the hillside above the town. All the staff were very friendly and most spoke very good English. The room was very modern, clean and spacious with an excellent bathroom. There is plenty of free parking The breakfast buffet was excellent and well worth the price. Meals in the restaurant were excellent quality and reasonably priced. and there were plenty of vegetarian choices. The only slight criticism of the hotel is that there was only one English language TV channel and the reception was quite poor. We will definitely be returning to this hotel on our next trip to Germany.

Great old world hotel.
My wife and I were returning from the Czech Republic by car and we wanted to have a hotel within a reasonable driving distance (about an hour) to Frankfurt so that we could get to the Hauptbahnhof by noon the next day. Hotel "F" fit the bill quite nicely. Although situated on a hill high above the valley floor, and in a residential area, it was easy to find and ultimately provided us a beautiful "old world" hotel room with high ceilings, comfortable bed and a beautiful view of the Lohr valley. The onsite restaurant was reasonably priced with well prepared traditional German fare...and ample portions. The multi-lingual staff was most helpful and I would venture to say that there are few Americans that frequent this hotel...which is just part of the reason we both like it so much. A word of caution though. The hotel has no elevators (at least none readily available to guests) but the staircases are worth the walk. Wide, impressive and what I normaly call "Fred-a-Stairs" because they are more show-cases than just stair-cases. The hotel's ceilings are so high that it did make the normal 2 story climb a bit higher than usual. We will definitely return and highly recommend this hotel for comfort and the experience.

If You Want To Get Away From It All
This hotel sits on a hill beside the town of Lohr on Main in Germany. The setting is very tranquil and picturesque. Make sure you have a personal navigation system to find the property. The rooms were smaller (as is the case in much of Germany), yet extremely clean (as is also generally the case in Germany). The hotel seems very family-friendly and it appears pets are allowed. I am not sure whether the hotel rooms have air conditioning as the weather during our visit did not warrant use even if available. The staff was extremely gracious and attended to our needs. There were two relatively minor disappointments experienced: First, we had been traveling for about a week and I was in the mood for something other than the "heavy" German food I had been eating all week. So, I ordered a dish described as "Italy meets Germany". The menu indicated the dish contained tagliatelle pasta (a long wide ribbon pasta that is generally about 1/4 to 3/8 inch in width). So, I figured this would be paired with a lighter marinara or Bolognese type of sauce (as is generally the case). Instead, what was received was a spaghetti noodle with a very heavy cream sauce that contained only a hint of tomato (much like a Vodka sauce). As my travel partner indicated: "It appears Germany met Italy, Germany won, and Italy went home." In fairness to the hotel's restaurant, I should have asked some probing questions since often cuisines in foreign countries are much different than we expect. So, shame on me! The other slight disappointment also had to do with the hotel's restaurant, in that the meal service was slow. Although Europeans have a much more relaxed pace at mealtime than do Americans, I believe this meal was "particularly leisurely" due to an ongoing wedding party. My sense and hope is that what we experienced was due to the particular circumstances during our visit. In short, if you want to get away from it all and have beautiful surroundings this hotel is very worthy of your consideration.

Great Location Outside Frankfurt
This hotel was located in a quiet town outsdie of Frankfurt. It was a beautiful half hours drive through a winding road that cut through the woods from Sailauf to Lohr. The hotel is located on a hill overloking the city. The view from the terrace restaurant is awesome. The hotel is first class and has a great restaurant serving excellent food and beverage. The town of Lohr is also very nice with many great restaurants in the Aldstat. If you want to be close to Frankfurt and have a good central location for travel to other cities this is perfect.

Die Zimmer sind groß und die Aussicht auf die Stadt im Tal ist zauberhaft. Die Anlage rund ums Hotel ist sehr liebevoll gestaltet. Der Wald lädt zum wandern ein. Der Saunabereich ist top. Für den Fitnessraum waren wir zu faul. Der sah aber auch gut aus. Das Restaurant überdurchschnittlich gut. Die Preise passen durchaus. Am besten gefallen hat uns die Freundlichkeit und Herzlichkeit des Personals.

DIe Lage des Hotels ist gut. Die Rezeption war bei unserer Ankunft am Sonntag unprofessionell und nicht interessiert (junges Mädchen, vielleicht Ferienjobber). Die Zimmer renoviert und einfach. Die Teppiche auf dem Fluren und im Treppenhaus nicht gesaugt (obwohl neuwertig). Die Speisen und Bedienung im Restaurant waren gut. Leider hat das Hotel insgesamt nachgelassen (wir kommen seit 2011 regelmäßig). Schade !

Alles perfekt! Freundliches Personal, wunderschönes Zimmer, tolle Lage mitten in der Natur, leckeres Frühstück mit veganen Optionen, Ruhe, gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis und moderne Ausstattung. Ich bin beruflich schon in einigen Hotels gewesen, aber die Anlage dieses Hotels ist einfach atemberaubend.

Küche top - aber laaaangsam
Ich hatte sogar mein Wunschzimmer bekommen...Auch wenn gleich mehrere DInge, seitens des Reinigungsteams stark verbesserungwürdig sid (Es fehlten fast alle Handtücher, die Flüssig-Seife in der Dusche war fast leer; Tilettenpapier nur noch ein Rest, genau so mit den Hygienetüchern), Positiv: ich hatte für einen Mitarbeiter ein kostenloses Zimmerupgrade bekommen. Nachteil: Trotz reservierten Tisch am Abend (für 5 Personen) hat es knappe 2,0 Stunden gedauert, bis es etwas zu Beißen gab. Immerhin wurden wir vorher darüber informiert und es gab im Anschluss kostenlos Nachtisch und 1-2 Brände. Es waren nur 2 Damen als Bedienpersonal - ein geiziger Scherz
