4 out of 5 rating on various sites is overly positive. Only realistic one said it is inaccurately described on websites as a hotel – it’s a hostel! It accurately describes a run-down, unsafe-feeling area. One wonders who wrote the other reviews! It was Grand National w/e but this is most expensive hotel we ever booked, including centre of Vienna or Manhattan, and by far the worst – cheap build, poor workmanship and damp chipboard smell, suggesting a flood. Bathroom really basic – no toilet roll holder, poorly fitted lino, paint on sink/toilet & tiny old cupboard. Floors creaked so loudly that hearing is believing. Website says 4 beds but only 2 single beds and 2 cheap sofa beds. Not enough bedding for sofas which didn’t fit - sheet too small; quilt cover for a double when only a single available - list goes on. Walls poorly decorated, recessed lights falling out & kitchen water damaged. Not enough crockery/cutlery & expected appliances from web descriptoin not present. Oh, and extractor to outside next to window through which you see light - all noise from outside (smokers & those who sit on cars and talk for hours), came into room as if window open. Walls paper-thin & no sound insulation in ceilings. Other rooms had guests jumping around, shrieking, partying all night and using beds like trampolines. We got no sleep before they went quiet at 5am. Only positive thing is that cleaners did their best with what they had - the place was clean. We will never stay there again.
