The hotel rooms, location, condition, comfort, quietness & cleanliness are all as advertised and were fine- well executed, no complaints. However, after that it was a disappointment across the board. The service is woebegotten- the guest-facing staff were almost universally woefully trained. Some of them try but they're just not capable. A few examples- wine served in tiny glasses, terrible coffee served at breakfast, a pretty decanter of port standing off to the side of the check in counter sits ignored through the check-in process, with no invitation from the front desk clerk to help themselves. The central selection of the 3 meat entrees in the dinner menu was somehow unavailable the eveing we dined. Majority of breakfast tables not made up after previous guests- instead strewn with crumbs, napkins etc left behind, besides giving the dining room a completely unsightly look it forced us into selecting any table that hadn't first been dined at. To cap it off- we were assured the evening before check out we could ask the front desk to book a cab a 1/2 hour before pick up time. But come morning we were 'corrected', that the cab services do not reserve in advance and come back when we're leaving and it will take 10 min. On what was now the third attempt the front desk was not even able to get through to get a cab. We were told, 'oh, no problem- just go to the square (300 M walk lugging bags) and there's always cabs. No surprise when we got there to find NO cabs.
