This XVII century apartment with the modern comfort accommodates up to 4 people on its 2 bedrooms. Right in the city center, near the river and in a place made of history and tradition. Local trade, leisure where is a ‘must’ to go through. Chiado, Bairro Alto, Alfama, the famous Avenida da Liberdade and the city's main monuments are just a few footsteps away. Building was recent rehabilitated, just like surrounding area. Access to the apartment is via the stairs to the first floor (no elevator) but when you go into you will note that the apartment is worth it. Apartment has cozy spaces on a extremely high ceiling rooms with the presence of traditional building materials area, such as wood and stone. The living room has a big ceiling light just like old palaces. The feeling is that we are in an extremely charming house of the XVII century but with the comfort of the XXI century with central air conditioning and a modern kitchen. The living room is the center of the house with two big windows doors with small balconies with lots of light and overlooking the main street. Next bedroom also has a big window doors and the small balcony. Apartment it's big enough to spend a few days comfortable. The house has one more two individual beds on a big bedroom. The care and attention to the detail is noticed. The Wi-Fi serves the entire house. The apartment has a fully equipped kitchen and ready to go and serves basic meals to a group up to 4 people. This clean, modern (in decor) yet historic property was in the dream location for Lisbon. It was walking distance from so many top tourist sights to visits, as well as the metro and many restaurants. Three adults stayed during our time there and it was comfortable; we only needed the place for sleeping and showering and did not cook or lounge at home. Pedro was very polite and communicative. My only disappointment was that check in was so late and we had to pay an additional 80€ to just leave our bags at the flat after our morning arrival in Lisbon. In my past experiences, hosts do not charge for that courtesy. All said though, I would stay here again in a heartbeat if I had to live the week over again even with the charge. The location is excellent and many wonderful restaurants near by. There are fado restaurants very close. The street is very busy during the day but quiets down at night. Do not plan to ride the tram because it is always crowded. Uber works great in Lisbon. Our only main problem was arriving at 1:00 AM, getting through the front door of apartment was no problem, but when we get to our apartment door the code does not work. I ended up having to make a call to VRBO, who connected to our host. Thankfully he could get us in remotely. There was a key we could use inside. We were upset that the code was never fixed, so us four adults had to make sure the person with the key arrived back first. Also, host said he would pay for our taxi, but that has not happened. Since that was only $15.00 it is no big deal. The place does not look like pictures, it is much more dated but okay. Kitchen appears well stocked with dishes. It is in walking distance to attractions, restaurants, shops and train stations. The unit was clean and well stocked. Our family of 4 fit comfortably. It is walking distance from Alfama, Chiado, and most of central Lisboa. The famous trolley line runs right in front of it, though we never took it because it is always crowded with tourists. The apartment is clean and roomy. It has a well equipped kitchen though we didn’t do any cooking. We did like having the espresso maker there. The AC worked fine. The manager communicated well and responded quickly to any messages from us. He was also flexible about allowing a somewhat earlier check in and later check out time which was appreciated by us. The only downside to this place is that it faces a busy street with a Trolley line and the front bedroom has a fair amount of noise that can be heard if there are a lot of people on the street or a festival is going on. It's a lively neighborhood with old cobbled streets (many steep), cultural sites, good foot and lots of activity. The apartment looks a bit nicer in the pictures than in person--it could use some updating. But was a nice place to rest with the window-doors open onto the street and with the famous tram 28 running right in front of the building. Checking in and out was easy. The keypad lock was a bit of an odd contraption which got stuck once but then unstuck itself and worked well the rest of our stay. ##### Laura E.
