It is located in the Parish of Mercy (before the parish of Santa Catarina) and is near the Bairro Alto, Principe Real, Chiado and Santos. It allows accommodate up to 8 people. It is near the Tagus River where you can easily catch transport to Bethlehem. The rooms have a double bed and the bathrooms have a shower base. The house has a mezzanine allowing accommodate up to 8 people (3 double beds and 2 twin beds). It has cable TV, wi-fi and electrical appliances: dishwasher, washing machine, coffee maker, microwave, oven, iron, hair dryer and other small appliances. The kitchen is equipped to make meals. Towels, bedding and amenities are included. Our house has double glazed windows with shutters in order to prevent outside noise levels. Tram 28 is one of the best ways to explore the history and the charm of Lisbon streets from the star to grace, passing by the main places to visit. The 28 goes to the door of the house. You do not need car. Santa Catarina is located in the historic city center. In the surroundings there are some art galleries, several Fado houses, restaurants, bars, traditional shops, antique shops, bookstores and booksellers. The wheezing metro station is a 9-minute walk, and the Sodre pier 16 minutes. Local accommodation registered in the Turismo de Portugal, I. Paula nous a accueilli royalement, en prenant le temps de tout expliquer dans l'appartement et de renseigner notre groupe sur les visites en annotant de façon très riche un plan de la ville (sites à voir, coins sympas, à ne pas louper, pratique...). Très bonne communication avec Paula et Joao ! Idéalement situé, cet appartement permet un accès facile au tram 28 (devant la porte), aux trains, métros, bus et ferry (gare Cais do Sobre à 10 mn à pied). La supérette à quelques minutes est bien utile pour les achats réguliers, le Mercado da Ribeira est aussi à 10 mn à pied. Appartement à la décoration très soignée, agréable et lumineux, confortable pour 8 personnes. Information à noter toutefois : la climatisation n'est installée que dans 2 chambres. L'espace mezzanine avec couchages peut être un peu chaud selon la température extérieure (ventilation par un velux et portes des chambres climatisées ouvertes pour rafraîchir). L'appartement est à quelques minutes à pied de l'ascenseur de Bica et de l'animation des multiples rues du Bairro Alto. De quoi être proche de la fête sans le bruit. Pas de bar sous les fenêtres, l'appartement est calme et reposant. C'est vraiment un lieu idéal pour sillonner dans Lisbonne, découvrir les quartiers les uns après les autres et pouvoir facilement sortir de la ville pour aller un peu plus loin : Belem, Caiscais, Sintra et sur l'autre rive du Tage le Cristo Rei et la plage de Caparica (entre autres). I traveled with my sister and we managed the narrow stairs to the apartment pretty well. Once inside, we loved the living space just as shown with a lot of character. The kitchen was well stocked and I appreciated the small appliances too. The lower bedroom was a dream and the upper bedroom, with multiple other beds outside in the loft area, was more than enough room for my sister. The air conditioners in the bedrooms and fans in the living space also worked well for us. Our host, Teresa, was wonderful and communicated well with us. She helped us with all of our questions on where to find things and replied promptly. There were a few issues we alerted her about and she said they would be looking into those. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and the walk-ability and/or Bolt/Tram options to get everywhere we wanted to go. I highly recommend the 2 hour walking tour to learn about the history and city. We were wrong...There was a terrible heatwave hitting Lisbon and the other bedroom had a faulty air conditioner. I mentioned this to the property manager, and she just did nothing. Instead, she tried to claim we were difficult tenants, because she had no other complaints. I find that very hard to believe. As a result, my family and I bunked all in one room. It was unbearable. The knob on the front door to our place seemed like it wasn't secure because it felt like it would fall off. I tried to communicate with the property agent, and she promised us a fan, this never happened. The only positive about this place is the location. The apartment is spacious, quiet, clean, and equipped with everything you could possibly need. The beds are comfortable, and the showers have an abundance of hot water. It is right on the #28 tram line, which is wonderful for sight-seeing. We could happily have stayed for a month! The icing on the cake was the help we received from Theresa in resolving a baggage problem we experienced. She really went above and beyond and we cannot thank her enough.
