Nestled in Apple Mountain directly off I-66 you’ll embrace natural beauty between the Shenandoah River backdropped in the Blue Ridge mountains from the comfort of your ultra private cabin. A big red wooden door swings open into a great room with an uplit 20’ ceiling, fireplace, projector, and library and a well-equipped kitchen that flows into your dining table to feed 6+ with a rustic library atmosphere. The social space is open for wonderful social flow. Past this is a well-lit cozy bedroom just off the dining equipped with a TV desk and makeup area, the private suite, right next to the back patio, and a hot tub in a space that feels like a tiny village. The cabin itself is very rustic and well appointed with a great front porch that’s perfect for sipping your morning coffee. We appreciated the unique artwork and decor as well. If you want to step out for an easy breakfast, lunch or dinner there’s a great store and restaurant called the Apple House just a ten minute drive away but the cabin has everything you would need if you wanted to stay in and cook instead. I had constant communication with the renter. I even spoke personally with him on the phone when I had a question. Everything worked as it should except for getting the touch top stove to work. I loved the lighting in the cabin, the fireplace was cozy and I really enjoyed the hot tub. I look forward to coming back again for a weekend stay again.It was nice and quiet out in the country. The cabin was cute, and on a warm and sunny weekend, it would have been fine. But it was the coldest weekend in years, the cabin very drafty (we used our coats to stuff up the crack at front door, and the gas fireplace (the basis for picking this cabin) DIDN'T WORK. It was so cold we slept in our outer wear overnight and woke up to totally frozen pipes. Those were the main problems - we had to leave early because we couldn't bath, make coffee, or clean any dishes. But there were also no instructions in the house about the WIFI, how to use the complicated screen and projector TV set up, or what to do with towels, trash, etc. We arrived a bit early but even after our official check in time, the host hadn't responded to our calls and emails with the door code. The listing (still) claims a fireplace, but no warning that it doesn't work. Let's just say rather than a relaxing getaway, this trip made us feel like we had been tricked and cheated, and long for heat, running water, and a hot shower - we couldn't wait to get home. I asked the host AND VRBO for at least a partial refund. Crickets. ##### Harriet T.
