If you want a wonderful pampered stay with excellent food, service, and superior furnishings then this is the stay for you. It was comfortable and tasteful in every aspect. We absolutely loved it here

Fabulous stay.
Fabulous check in experience, actually shown to my room. Room was great, a little tired in places but very clean. The view over the courtyard and countryside was wonderful. Had dinner in the restaurant and the food was superb. Worth going back for the chocolate dessert alone! Every single member of staff I had contact with were fantastic, nothing was any trouble. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Bit disappointing. Poor internet in some rooms. Bar food was not to my liking. Rooms ok. Total mess up with my bill and overcharged on breakfast and on total bill. Even overcharged my c/card when they new bill was wrong and caused me some major issues with my business expense claims.

This was a quick one night stay - good comfortable bed, staff were very friendly, loved the Roberts radio in the room and a great deli for a coffee for my journey. Moving to the area soon and would definitely use the hotel for visitors.

comfort and country pursuits - perfect!
The Arundell is a lovely hotel run and owned by lovely people who were warm and welcoming. The owner actually came to greet us on the car park and asked if we needed help with our luggage. A great start! Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the room sumptuously comfortable. There was no TV in the room and suited us perfectly, who needs to be reminded of the stresses and strains of modern life in such a gorgeous place? If I had any criticisms at all it would be the fine dining and sometimes not all the combinations work well, as was the case with my "fish of the day combination". A citrus element would have removed the blandness from the main dish, otherwise, very good indeed. I would stay here again without doubt and in future I would take advantage of the Fly Fishing instruction on offer if possible.

Overall a nice stay. Restaurant a bit pricey for dinner and had to have a 2 or 3 course meal from the menu but food was really nice . Bit disappointed in the breakfast though . Service very slow, have had better breakfasts and left very frustrated when we wanted to get going . Again food overpriced for a country hotel.

What a lovely hotel, with the most helpful and friendly staff, everything was top class. I felt very comfortable and had an amazing nights sleep on the most luxurious queen size bed.

Nice hotel but patchy service and expensive food
Stayed in a room in one of the cottages across the road from the hotel. Quite comfortable but couldn’t coax any hot water in the bathroom. Had dinner from the bar menu which was very tasty if a bit nouvelle cuisine, so quite expensive and small portion size and the service was very poor, with 25 minutes between courses. Committed the cardinal sin (for me) of the reception being unmanned in the morning for 10 minutes while I waited to check out and, in the event I went away and finished up breakfast then came back.

Easy to find with reasonable sized car park. All staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Room nice, good sized and clean. Stiflingly hot and only way to change temperature was to open all windows. Only one towel provided for two of us which despite complaining wasn’t rectified during stay. Tired furniture. Breakfast disappointing-selected hot good choice but took 30 minutes to appear so then rushed and not the nicest. It’s an ok place but very expensive

I had a lovely one night stay here. The staff were friendly and helpful. My only disappointment was that breakfast is not offered until 7am and as I was working in the area I had to be on my way before then. I did eat in the restraunt on the evening of my stay and the food was lovely and the portion was a good size. The room was lovely, well decorated and although it was a single room it wasn't too tight for space. Wifi did work better downstairs than in the room, but it wasn't too much of an issue.

Excellent hotel and I look forward to staying again if and when I have business near Lifton. The food at dinner and breakfast was first class. Room was spacious and clean. Proper West Country atmosphere.

Hotel was fine, and the breakfast was great and far better than the norm. Bathroom was a bit tired though, and could do with a bit of modernisation. But overall great place to stay.

Good choice for touring base.
Very convenient - close to A 30 - but quiet. All staff very pleasant. Bathroom needs a bit of updating. Good food in hotel but limited choice in village , so if you want to drink with your meal you need to eat at hotel.

Nice hotel quietly tucked away
I liked this hotel. Only stayed for one night for business nearby. The room was very small, but it was all that was available. Having said that, it had everything i needed.The staff were polite and friendly at reception and check-in. The food in the restaurant was very nice but the two waiters were both a little hostile. When we were ordering and paying, they seemed either inexperienced or un-accomodating. Other than that, i would stay here again.
