The house itself is surrounded by farms in which you will have the pleasure of seeing cows, horses, and lots of deer. However the drive up is a purely scenic mountain climb. We almost had to leave. I believe the smell was from the fact that the house was closed up and the house is old. There needs to be some ventilation while the house is closed. It has a rural feel, but is close to many attractions. Views from the porch are incredible, and a great place to drink a cup of coffee while watching the cows. It is settling a bit as older houses do. The hardwood floors are a BIT uneven but drink enough Bourbon and you'll be fine! ;) There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom which connects to one of the bedrooms and the kitchen. (Interesting floorplan, we love it, but we're weird like that,)No problem, Open the bathroom window a crack for..."ventilation"Seriously though, Rustic, Rural, Quaint, close to Buffalo Trace, Castle & Key, Glenn's Creek, and Woodford distilleries, close to downtown AND a wonderful restaurant, "The Stave" is on your way in and out of the location. Don't be fooled by the outside look of this restaurant, GO THERE.All in all, a lovely location and relaxing vacation.Book this place. ##### Howard K. The charming house allowed for relaxation in a quiet setting surrounded by fields of cows and deer grazing each night. The host was responsive if contacted. Deer grazed in the yard every night. The drive to the property is picturesque. The house was furnished with country antiques and had all the kitchen and bath amenities you would need. We had our morning coffee on the covered back porch while enjoying the sunrise. We spent our evenings on the covered front porch watching does and spotted fawns ramble about while we waited for the sunset. The house is only 2.4 miles from Woodford Distillery, 3.7 from Castle & Key, 5.7 miles from Godolphin Horse Farm (birthplace of Cody's Wish) and 11 miles from both Buffalo Trace Distillery and Wallace Station. The house's location made it easy to stop between tours to rest and grab a snack. We never felt hurried to get from place to place and looked forward to coming back each evening. If you're a Woodford fan, this is the house for you. ##### M C.
