This is a great location for exploring the south of Martinique. The resort is in a quiet location and has great views. There is a good pool and all the rooms have a balcony facing the sea. Rooms are quite basic but everything works. Restaurant only serves breakfast. There is an evening bar and a "takeaway" for evening meals, but for dinner you need to go offsite. A car is 100% essential. Good restaurants are available for example in Diamant, Pointe-de-Bout and Le Marin.

3 stars is a stretch
This hotel features a beautiful pool and view of the "diamant" rock and surrounding ocean; however, the rest of the amenities are poor. The shower and bathroom area should have been redone years ago. Cleaning and tidying up is not done during your stay. The continental breakfast is basic. The location is not convenient as walking to local shops is not possible. Roads leading to the area are not well lit at night. Guests can enjoy wifi and mosquitos in open air hotel lobby. As a fellow guest expressed during our stay "3 stars is a stretch".

Nice hotel in beautiful location
Residence Marine Hotel is a relaxing hotel in a very beautiful area. There are good restaurants and shops within walking distance. You will want a car to explore the island properly. Facilities are in decent condition but not luxury.

Beautiful views but somewhat disappointing
The hotel is very secluded and you definitely need to rent a car to stay here. Taxis from the airport are 50-60 euros each way. The views are stunning, but there is no access to the beach. There's a nice pool that was never crowded during our stay. The breakfast is 12.50 euros and is similar to a hotel continental breakfast -- instant coffee, runny eggs, yogurts, and semi-ripe fruits. There's a restaurant by the pool to purchase salads and burgers and a take out menu for dinner, where the food is overpriced and not very good. Mostly pizza and pasta options, with some meats that were frankly gross (really tough). The staff was pretty nice but at times I felt they took my questions to be an inconvenience. It's not very well organized -- for example, they say there's a shuttle each morning and evening to the local town, but when we asked for it one morning, the woman made a fuss that we hadn't scheduled it in advance -- despite there being NO posting anywhere that that was necessary. We were also on our own to get back to the hotel afterwards, as no private taxis will go there and public transportation (buses) rarely run. A woman at the tourist office took pity on us and drove us herself. The hotel is cheap and you get what you pay for. Rooms are okay but ours smelled very mildewy and the TV didn't work and neither did the safe. There are also a TON of stairs and there is only wifi in the lobby, which gets crowded so the connection is usually terrible and unreliable.

Beautiful hotel with friendly and helpful staff
From the time we arrived to the time we departed, this hotel met or more often exceeded our expectations. Can't say enough good things about the staff who were consistently warm, welcoming and helpful. The facility itself is beautiful and comfortable.

Nice 3 star property
Rooms are clean and comfortable. Outside kitchen at the balcony . All essentials present, but ceiling fan on the balcony would be a big plus. Property is small located on the hill with great views. Pool is clean and big. No beach on property but several in a short drive. Must have a car to enjoy the nearby locations.

Ruined our holidays!
The receptionist didnt speak english. The room smell like urine and was full of mosquito's. The staff would not provide something againts the mosquito's saying that the products that they have are their personal products. The breakfeast I can say was pretty good, but the coffe was nesspreso only and the juices were from concentate. They rased the price of breackfeast during our 2 weeks stay a couple of times. The dinner menu didnt have any creol dishes, only international with a few choises. The service was really slow and food was tastless. The restaurant was open only the first week, the second one was closed due to the fact that is was "out of season" even if the hotel was full. Regarding the pool, I never saw them empty the water and clean it, only in the mornings cleaning the leafs. They let everyone by the pool, no need to be hotel customer. They even let people enter without baithing suit. Regarding the room, they changes the sheets 2 times in our two weeks stay. Never washed the floor, bathroom or furniture.Towels were changed every 2 days, but we never receved additional soup, that the one offered at our arrival. No internet in the rooms, only in the reception and it was not working if there were alot of people connected. There was also alot of noise comeing from the other rooms. When they closed the doors, or went to the bathroom we could hear it like it was in our room. The island was beautifull to visit, but everytime we got to the rooms, we were disappointed

Hotel with a view nothing else
The view of the hotel was amazing. The staff was very nice. The hotel is really outdated, they advertise free wifi, however they don't mention that it is not available in any of the rooms or other areas. To use the wifi, hotel guests have to go all the way back up the hill to the reception area where mosquitos literally eat you alive no matter what time of day it is. The food was expensive and not that good, but they do provide kitchens for each rooms so that's a plus. Also there's no direct beach access to the hotel, you only get the view. The only thing we really enjoyed was the view, I wouldn't stay there again when I go back to Martinique.

Great stay
This place was impossible to find based on Google maps. Don't trust Google maps!! It's located at Point de la chery so as long as you follow the signs for that, you should be able to find it. Our stay was pleasant - food is only served between 7:00 and 9:30 at the restaurant. The view is amazing! Housekeeping never came the whole time we were there but the room was very clean and comfortable.

A Pleasant Place with a Phenomenal View
The hotel staff was very friendly and spoke English which was a huge help. The view from my room was spectacular. I stayed in a studio for 2 people. It was small, but not unbearable. There is self serve breakfast every morning for about 13euro that includes eggs, bacon, fruit, small croissants, tea, and coffee amongst other things and I enjoyed it. The rooms also have a fridge, and microwave on the balconies. For a 5 night stay, there was room service once, where they just dropped off some towels but didn't make the bed or take the garbage out :-( There isn't wifi in the rooms and the wifi in the lobby is just okay. There isn't a beach at this hotel but They do have a "shuttle" that does one pick up and one drop off to the town/ Diamond Beach area which is about a 5 minute drive/ 11 minute walk. The pool area is nice and large with a great view of Diamond Rock and it has a water slide. It's definitely not what we're used to in the states but it was a pleasant experience and a great price. I'd definitely stay here again.

Residence Marine Hotel Diamant
Looking for a budget accommodation for a night (on a whim), we stumbled on Residence Marine Hotel Diamant which surprised in the best ways. Pressed against time, we did very little research on the place, but rather stuck to the price - book online. The staff was extremely friendly and also spoke English. The hotel was easy to find, but it is a little drive east from Diamant. This means if you want to go to the beach, you have to drive to the beach instead of walking. But they do have a very nice pool (with slide) and beautiful, unobstructed views of the sea, Diamond Rock, and St. Lucia in the distance. We did not eat here, but the hotel basically the same menu that you'll find anywhere else on the island - pizza, fish, chicken, ice cream, etc.. The rooms come with a balcony kitchenette so if you want to pop into the Essomart at the roundabout, it's easy to prepare your own meals - it includes a fridge, microwave, plates, cups, stovetop, and silverware. Another great perk was the secure parking area they provide - which makes you sleep easier. The room itself had air conditioning, a TV with very few channels all in French, and a little tired looking shower/bathroom. WiFi is also limited to the lobby only - which is kind of a drag. Nonetheless, we didn't mind it and it suited us perfectly for our needs and had a great night.

Think twice
Once we finally found this hotel, it was late and our two families were tired and thirsty. There was nothing open and the vending machine was broken. First advice to the hotel is to keep bottled water on hand for the guests who arrive late. The property setting was lovely, but in the middle of no where. The pool was at the bottom of the resort and the only way to access was to walk many sets of stairs. We were there over the New Years holiday and it appeared that the resort was a drop off place for the local children to use the pool facilities, as evidenced by the large number of children and no lounges available to the guests. We arrived on Monday and were unable to get pool towels until late Wed. The ice machine was boarded up and it looked like they had no intention of repairing it. The internet was only available in the lobby and there were many time that it would go down. I am only making note of the above items so that if you do choose this hotel you are aware of these issues.

Great 3 Star hotel to use as a base for exploring Martinique. The hotel staff was very accommodating (thank you Freddy!). The pool is perfect for children and the views of Diamond Rock and the sunset were fantastic. It is good to note that you'll need a car and that hotel amenities are not like typical North American hotels (maid service everyday, simple rooms).

Nice hotel with great customer service
The hotel was staffed with trained receptionists who are always willing to assist customers. I cherished the computer room and I found it useful. The swimming pool was okay too but limited time to stay in the pool is a problem. The pool closes at 9pm and I think that should be extended. The kitchenette not bad but the microwave and the electric stove had a limited power credits and they got shut off just before I left.

Good view, that's it...
This hotel has a very good situation, but what a bad welcome from some people of the staff... I made two stays in this hotels, one room had a broken shower curtain and both AC were loud. Unfortunatly one of the cheapest hotel of the island, so if you want to save money, your best bet if you put aside some pieces of comfort. On the good point is the kitchen (outside, on a patio) that allows you to cook and have your breakfast in front of the sea.

Shabbiest 4* Hotel ever
We had stayed at a pretty poor hotel the night before and when we drove up to the Mercure we thought 'Great, the grounds look superb, this will be better'. How wrong we were. When we were shown to our room the first thing we noticed was the smell. On looking around we found the bathroom was filthy and mouldy - mouldy everywhere. Paint was peeling. Wood was rotting. On complaining we were told there was no other room and as we had pre-paid we had no choice but to stay. The smell was 'dealt with' by giving us an air freshener which was next to useless in the circumstances. Outside, the swimming pool itself was fine, but to get to it, we were supposed to walk through a foot bath. Presumably this was to ensure cleanliness, but the footbath itself was revolting - the tiles were all chipped, it was full of leaves and other unidentified floating bits, and everyone tried to avoid stepping in it to avoid getting some infection - nice for a cleansing bath! The management couldn't have been less interested in our opinions - I can only just get by speaking french, but their receptionist could speak good english - until we complained. This was truly one of the worst hotels we have stayed in, and we do like to travel. Never again.

LE DIAMANT MARTINIQUE
I stayed at Hotel le Diamant last week. Do not go there under circumstance. I just got back from Martinique on tuesday last week and it is by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The hotel is extremely far from everything including the airport (about 45 minutes). The room smelled extremely dingy. The staff is very rude and not at all helpful. I speak both english and french and that didn't even make a difference. There is absolutely nothing to do around the hotel. You are not allowed to receive visitors after 6pm. Very odd and very strange....

Nice But Not Posh
I just returned from a stay at the Residence Mercure Diamant and I was pleased but not overly impressed. Pros: --Great view, and I believe that would be true from all the rooms as the hotel sits on the side of a hill and all buildings are terraced so they have a view (and there are not rooms on the "backside") --Wonderful pool area ... it's huge and has a killer view of the ocean --The restaurant food that we had was good and reasonably priced. One nice feature is that they serve sandwiches and pizza even at dinner, along with full meals, so you aren't "forced" into ordering a big expensive meal --Nice open air lobby with great view and free wifi access Cons: --Grounds were pretty unkempt, with weeds about a foot high everywhere, although they appeared to be cutting the grass when we checked out. Keeping up the grounds would greatly improve the "curb appeal" of this hotel. --Charged for clean towels. I found this system to be really bizarre and sort of cheapen their hotel and make it seem more like a hostel. I've never stayed in a hotel anywhere near this caliber that charged to change towels. After returning to our room the evening of our second night, we noticed the room hadn't been made up ... bed not made, towels we left in the floor not changed, etc. When I went to the front desk to exchange towels they said "Well did you fill out the form in your room for clean towels"? I hadn't ... it was a laundry request form all in French (I don't speak it that well and would have never thought to have had to fill it out for clean linens, towels, etc.). They charge 1 euro to give you a clean towel. Not a big deal, but really bizarre and, in my opinion, just sort of cheapens their hotel. --Restaurant does not open for dinner until 7:30 pm, which is kind of inconvenient if you are really hungry like we were when we arrived Neither pros nor cons, but other points: --This property isn't really close to anything ... no other restaurants or businesses nearby ... but at the same time it really wasn't that far from the airport (about 12 miles or so, though with the horrible Fort de France traffic, it took us 50 minutes during rush hour to return to the airport to fly home). Pont du Bout is about 30 minutes away, as is Marin and, if you are there on a Sunday when there is little traffic, you could be to Fort de France in about 30 minutes, otherwise expect closer to 45 minutes to an hour ... in rush hour all bets are off. It's also well marked (get off main road from airport at the first Diamant exit and there will be a sign at the roundabout right before you enter Diamant that leads you to the hotel). --Our room was bright and cheery, with average maintenance. Bathroom was very basic and a little run down, will probably disappoint those that have very high expectations.

"Some good some bad"
There were some truly lovely staff at this hotel. Freddie, on reception, is an extremely helpful, warm and friendly gent, along with his fellow reception staff. The security chap was courteous and polite. These staff were let down however by their colleagues in the restaurant; the hostess was verbally aggressive, rude and unfriendly. Some pool bar staff appeared reluctant to serve and spoilt an otherwise pleasant environment from which to enjoy the view; the hotel is located on the sea-edge and has a magnificent view of Diamant Rocher and Morne Larcher. There is a very handy shuttle service into Diamant village 3 times a day - as the village is c.20 minute walk away, although this is only mon-fri; and taxi cost is 10 euros! Car hire is fairly essential in order to explore the island at the hotel and in the immediate vicinity. There is a diving/watersports centre at the hotel but we didnt try this so cant comment. At weekends the hotel pool seems to be open to local families to bring their children, which can obviously be rather noisy. If planning a walk up morne larcher do bear in mind you are likely to lose around half a stone in sweat. :-)

Smiles not included
A good hotel in a good location. Smiles and a demonstrated concern for customer needs were notably absent. Rooms are only made every three days (which the front desk neglected to tell us about). Lots of stairs to get to the room, which is not quite convenient when travelling with bags (very few or no ramps). Room was comfortable, kitchenette had basic equipment. Shower curtain was mouldy, not uncommon in this type of climate, however, more care and attention required. On-site restaurant has good breakfast buffet and provides simple meals for dinner. Hotel did not live up to the standards one could expect from the Accor chain.

Less than Diamant
This hotel is located on a rocky waterfront, some distance from lively activity or even a main road. Having said that, it had a relaxed evening atmosphere with live cadence music, pool and tablefootball and the somewhat americanised menu was well executed. This all ended quite early at around 9pm. Breakfast was just ok, I'm afraid. The aparments were air conditioned and self catering, with the kitchenette curiously located on the balcony. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there is a large swimming pool which had an extensive shallow area, well suited for children, at one end. Spending only one night meant, there was no opportunity for me to try the hotel boutique, as in French territories, there is little commerce on Sundays. The locally produced souvenirs were well priced and quite quaint The room rate was reasonable It really functions as base for activities further afield, including scuba diving. Th journey in a taxi to the airport was a staggering 50Euros!
