"We had a great time at this resort...service, staff, food, pool, beach. The room definitely needs some updating; chipped paint, worn furniture, but overall good. There were a couple odd things; the windows/door on the oceanfront had no screens & the windows do not open. The door is a heavy outdoor door that had to be propped open with a chair to get the outdoor experience and it is very heavy. So while you are inside, you have no option of having the air come in. "My husband and I stayed at the Pelican Grand Beach Resort for our 21st anniversary and we are already planning our 22nd! It was a wonderful experience very peaceful and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The two ladies at the front desk were especially helpful!! "Property is privately owned in a high end resort hotel. The unit is beautiful but certainly not up to the standards of the hotel as far as cleanliness. Mold, broken fixtures, stained carpet.. etc. Five days before the end of our two week stay we were told the owner sold the unit. The hotel expected us to pay them a daily rate on top of our paid reservation or leave. We were unable to reach the owner, but VRBO tried to intervene.
