Tenuta Cusmano was a highlight in our 11 day trip to Italy. It's an easy drive from the Rome Ciampino airport. Grottaferrata is a charming town, just a few short minutes from Tenuta Cusmano. We took a taxi to the neighboring town of Frascati everyday to catch the train into metropolitan Rome. The train was easy to navigate, and allowed us to leave our car at Tenuta Cusmano every day, so as to avoid the ZTLs. We stayed three nights. The room had a lovely porch and view of the rolling hills. The accommodations were comfortable. The pool was amazing! But most of all, the owner Mauricio was gracious, funny, kind, and attentive. He made our stay feel personal. He entertained us with stories. It was a truly lovely experience, and we would recommend this place to anyone looking to stay out of the hubbub of the busy crowded city, but still close enough to travel easily into town.

The best part of our trip to Rome was staying at the beautiful Tenuta Cusmano Villa Resort! Maurizio is the best host there is! we have never met someone so personable, charismatic and hospitable like Maurizio! He made us feel welcomed and like we could go to him for anything without hesitation. Aside from the excellent service, the Villa is beautiful. It has panoramic views of Rome without the city noise, very peaceful. The Sunsets here are breathtaking! Also fresh breakfast every morning is something we enjoyed at the villa. I recommend Tenuta Cusmano, You will enjoy your stay here!

The check in was superb. The owner was warm and friendly and had suggestions for visiting the area- he even provided the maps to get to locations we could visit. The setting of this property is glorious. An incredible view of the valley and you can see the city of Rome, including the Vatican. It was a wonderful stay overall.

Beautiful place to relax!
First of all, the view of the country side from the villa is amazing. The pool is stunning. The host is such a good man and bends over backwards for the guests. He coordinated a wine tasting tour in a near by town. The tour was worth every penny. My daughter loved the breakfast. They basically cook for you and they greet you with homemade croissants. The bathroom in our room was huge! The only thing to know is that there is not a restaurant in the property and you do have to walk about .6 miles to the nearest restaurant and just under a mile to the center of Grottaferata to find the market and other restaurants. We did not have a car and walked to dinner and to the market. One night we had pizza delivered. But we probably would have explored more if we had a car. The residents there don’t speak English as well as in Rome. However we found them to be lovely and helpful. We don’t speak Italian and we made it work and were able to communicate. We spent 8 days in Rome and 4 here. We wished we would have spent more time here. It is a serene place to relax, recharge and enjoy the natural beauty of the Italian country side. If you want to relax and enjoy a beautiful non pretentious space, this is it! Mauricio makes you feel like you are part of the family.

Little paradise
It was absolutely gorgeous, we spent 5 days at Maurizio's place : great house, clean, quiet, comfortable beds, beautiful garden and swimming-pool. It was walking distance from restaurant and the town. All the comments are true, this is a perfect place to rest and take some time for you. We can't wait to come back ! Grazie per tutto !

This is a unique resort located in a beautiful area. The facilities could use a facelift but the staff was excellent. Maurizio was attentive to our every need with maps of the area, suggestions for restaurants and touring, and responding to any request! It was a unique experience!

Three nights in this country villa couldn’t have been more enjoyable. The property and surroundings are lovely, and our host had a special gift of making us feel like we were special guests and returning home at the same time. Easy access by car or train to Rome. Highly highly recommend it....can’t wait for a return trip.

Superb views and gardens. The warmest and most personal welcome from the lovely Maurizio. We were made to feel very welcome and would be back again in a heartbeat. What a lovely place to while away a few days resting and soaking in the views by the pool! Great restaurants and a lively Italian town within walking distance :)

A beautiful hilltop Villa, southeast of Rome.
A beautiful setting among the hills southeast of Rome that offered peace and quiet after spending 3 non-stop days in Rome center viewing the principle historical sites. The Villa is extremely well managed by Maurizio, son of the owner, who can't do enough to make sure that all questions are answered and every requirement of guests are met to utmost satisfaction. Maurizio is very friendly, cordial and always very helpful in suggesting restaurants, places to see or things to do, in the immediate area of the Villa. He's always eager to assist with copies of maps, detailing the travel routes. An example of Maurizio's "going the extra mile" for his guests occurred while we were there. We had scheduled a tour with a guide at a location about 15 miles from the Villa. When it came time for us to leave the Villa in order to meet the guide at the specified time, the access road out of the Villa area was closed due to a "running event" that shut down car traffic for about 2 hours. But our tour guide could not wait until the run was over, due to another tour she had booked later in the day. Maurizio said no problem, just follow him in his car and he'll show another way out of the hills and down to the main access road that ringed Rome. And that's what he did, leaving his Villa for about 20 minutes and had us follow him in a circuitous route around the "run" that enabled us to get to the tour and meet our guide on time. Maurizio came to our rescue and showed his helpful nature!

It's a fine place to stay to escape the crowds and madness of something closer to the city. Owner is hugely accommodating and eager to satisfy. Room is nicely furnished and good size just feels a little bit tired in places when you look beyond the surface. (broken locks, faulty TV, missing drawer knobs, loose bathroom fittings) - similar story with pool area, nice size just a bit shabby with crumbling tiles, ageing loungers and unkept gardens. Just TLC stuff but something I expect when paying these higher prices. Local area is fine but you'll need to drive/taxi to a decent restaurant unless you fancy the hike uphill ...and accompanying sweat. Frascati is worth the taxi fare albeit insanely busy at the weekend.

What A View From Balcony!
My stay at Tenuta Cusmano Villa Resort was a wonderful experience! Enjoyed every minute of it. The location is breathtaking. It's a wonderful place to just relax. The staff is great, can't thank Maurizio enough, always there to accommodate you and always with a smile. Giulia is also great. Also can't forget the chef, Djenaba, who prepares our wonderful breakfasts every morning D E L I C I O U S !!!

The best hotel ever!
Our stay was exceptional. The hotel is an old family home turned to a hotel. It is located in a secluded area, that you feel that you are in an a small town but really you are just minutes from Rome. The best part of the stay was the owner/ manager/ to be friend Maurizio Cusmano. Cusmano is very attentive to your needs and he makes the best breakfast! :) He is really helpful and gives you advice on all the routes that you need. When we arrived it was pretty late, but he waited for us and then he personally called a restaurant close-by and made them open it for us. The hotel is well maintained, with a beautiful garden, pool and is on hill so you get great views as well. I highly recommend this place.

We decided to stay at a resort in the farm/wine country near Roma after our long flight from LA. Staff is wonderful, the owner Maurisimo was an excellent host and we saw and did more sight seeing than we planned. The breakfast is terrific and the gardens and pool are first rate. Overall my wife and I highly recommend this hotel.

Touring Holiday of Italy
We stayed here on our way to Sorrento in order to spend a day in Rome,we also stayed here on our way back to Florence in order to break the journey and also visit the Vatican.I have to say our host Mauritzio could not do enough for for us and was very helpful in explaining how to access the Metro system and multi storey car park at Anangini which is some 20 mins by car.The Hotel has beautiful grounds and an excellent swimming pool,it was very hot on both occasions we were there and our host kindly served us a very welcome glass of wine at the pool.We really enjoyed our stay and especially meeting Mauritzio who is a very charming character !

A Feast for all the senses
Spectacular location. Everywhere you look is WOW! We had the best experience at Tenuta Cusmano. Travelled with my wife and 5 year old daughter and 1 year old son. A very homely feel with great staff who were friendly and help full. The pool is very clean and once again amazing views. From the gardens you can see ancient Rome in the distance and the dome of Saint Peters Vasilica. Maurizio gave us a gift of his home made wine for our wedding anniversary and gave us a late checkout on our last day as our flights were delayed. Great coffee in the mornings! It was close to get into Rome and also local towns that had great restaurants, shops and of course a lot of historical sites. Absolutely loved this holiday.

We had a wonderful stay at Tenuta Cusmano. Our room had a huge balcony with beautiful views over the well-kept grounds, across the surrounding hills and over the plain to Rome and the distant sea. Maurizio, who emailed detailed driving directions before we arrived, could not have been more helpful, suggesting day trips and tours and giving us information about the area. Rome can be accessed easily from the metro station at the end of line A, which is about 10km from the B&B. Although there is not a restaurant, breakfasts are generous and there are plenty of great places to eat nearby. We thoroughly recommend a stay here.

Super place to stay south of Rome
Good first impression because owner Maurizo sent directions by email since google maps was wrong. Arrived to very warm welcome by Maurizo and plenty of information about local restaurants and places of interest. He kindly reserved tables for us and is recommendations were excellent. Tenuta Cusmano garden is absolutely bursting with lovely scented plants and greenery. The views from the garden and many of the room terraces is fantastic. It is quiet (except for local dogs barking all hours - but isn't that so in all of Italy???) with plenty of birdsong and sound of breeze through leaves. Our room was spacious and had a terrace wrapped round two sides with amazing views of Rome in the distance and lots of green hills etc. Very comfortable room and bathroom with plenty of towels and water in the fridge. Wifi reception very good in room. Breakfast room was bright and comfortable. Choice of breakfast was excellent. Very good coffee!!! And eggs just about any way you want them. Maurizo's attention to guests is exemplary. He wants everyone to be happy, and everyone was when we stayed there! Once you get the hang of Grottaferatta one way system it isn't so hard to find restaurants. You can walk to most if you are fit and healthy. We used the car and found places to park. Maurizo's directions were brilliant. It's easy to get around by car and we travelled to Ninfa and Tivoli easily from Tenuta Cusmano. Other guests went into Rome for the day easily by public transport.

This is a great hotel set on beautiful surrounds with an amazing view. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. So peaceful there - the perfect location for a romantic getaway. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer!

We recently stayed in this hotel for a 3 night stay. It is in a quiet area with wonderful views and surroundings. The room and hotel were spotless and the garden and pool area were just being prepared for the summer season. The views outside the bedroom are stunning with Rome on one side and Castelli Romani on the other. Our host, Maurizio, was fantastic. He couldn't do enough for us in terms of advice and directions. Breakfast was delicious. I would recommend this hotel.

It was the perfect way to end out stay in Italy. I wish we could have stayed longer! The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The room was comfortable and well furnished the view was breathtaking! We used the pool for a little relaxing dip which was nice after a hot day. The breakfast was amazing with freshly baked croissants and made-for-you eggs etch. Will definitely recommend a stay here!

Beautiful villa, with amazing views, and an incredibly helpful and friendly host. We were taken away with the place from the moment we drove down the driveway and were personally greeted and shown to our room on arrival. The room was elegantly decorated and had a large balcony with a view of the vineyards and beyond (as well as the very inviting swimming pool). A buffet was available for breakfast and we were also personally brought fresh croissants each morning and were able to have a selection of items cooked to order. The host was amazingly helpful and provided us with many tips on what to do while in Rome including printing directions for us even on the day we checked out we were still provided with information on a location we could stop at on our way to our next destination. If we are ever fortunate enough to visit Rome again we will definitely be coming back here.

Me and my wife loved this place. The room was spacious, clean and with amazing view. The garden is magnificent and huge. The hotel is located in beautiful countryside. Reaching the center of Rome was not difficult (we used our car to reach the parking of Anagnina metro station, but there is also a bus to get you there). The personnel made us feel comfortable from the very first moment. Antonio welcomed us nicely. Special compliments to good-hearted Maurizio, who served us personalized breakfast, provided trust worthy information about what to visit, how to go, where to eat, what to avoid. He made himself available to respond pro-actively to all our questions and always being friendly and humorous. We wish we had more time to spend there. If we come back to Rome, we shall definitely go to the same hotel. It was a unique experience.

We selected Tenuta Cusmano based on other reviews and it did not disappoint. Maurizio is a wonderful host and went out of his way to help in every way possible. He suggested restaurants, places to visit, etc ... The view from our balcony was absolutely fantastic! The breakfast is also very good with a choice of eggs or omelette cooked to order, fruit, and a variety of cakes , croissant... My only recommendation would be an upgrade of the bathroom which although very clean and functional could use a facelift. I would stay here again.

So Much Better Than Staying in Rome !
We booked two nights at Tenuta Cusmano Villa so that we would have easy access to the train to Rome from Frascati, the neighboring town. We knew it would be a beautiful spot, but didn't realize how friendly and warm a place it would be to come home to after a busy day in Rome. Maurizio, the assistant manager, was so pleasant and helpful. He even took the time and special care to save a pair of shoes we had left so that we could pick them up a day later, after we had already checked out. The breakfasts were plentiful, with wonderfully prepared-to-order omelets along with cereal, yogurt, fruit, and fresh breads and cakes bought by Maurizio at the bakery each morning . The views are spectacular, as the villa is situated in the hills overlooking the city of Rome. Beautiful, wonderful memories from Tenuta Cusmano.
