Great horse arena right in hotel

Posted 26-Jul-2017
Pros: The horse arena is right in the hotel! Great seats everywhere.
Cons: Reduce the daily use fee of $21 for those of us not using the bowling alley, barber, etc.Perhaps just charge those using those amenities.
Location: Location is the first casino at the south end of the strip. That's why it's called South Point.
Easy to get around. Great variety of restaurants from Cornado cafe to Seattle's best coffee, ice cream, fantastic buffet, asian, burger and shake shop, sandwiches and snacks up at the bowling alley. Never had to leave hotel.

Great hotel in smoky casino away from the strip

Posted 21-Jul-2017
Pros: It was clean, comfortable and easy to get to.
Cons: The smoke. Filled casino.
Location: 5 min from the busy activities of the strip.
We stayed at this place overnight during a road trip. The non-smoking accommodations were excellent once you walked through the awful smoke filled casino. We did not eat at any of their many places due to the smoke. Know they charge a $21 resort fee in addition to room tax when you consider the price of the hotel and they hold a hundred dollars on your credit card until you check out.

Not my favorite

Posted 21-Jul-2017
Pros: Convenient parking, hufe bathroom
Cons: See first comment.
Location: Las Vegas. Plenty to do all over the valley.
This is a very large hotel and they book big groups for arena events and bowling tourneys. They are not equipped to serve the number of people who converge on the "fast" dining opportunities at mealtime, most of whom want to get back to the arena or bowling alley. Additional seating is needed in the deli area. A few more food choices would be great. We did eat in the Mexican restaurant one night and the food was ok, Steak and Shake was great, but long wait. The pool, which in summertime is an amenity much used, was uninviting. Perhaps the skimmer was broken, for there were all sorts of leaves floating in it and a foamy scum gathered in the stair area. A staff person with a manual skimmer net would have been a welcome addition. The hotel elevators get a lot of use and are in the center of the hotel. Put 8-10 people in them (average number over our two night stay, every trip), and the ventilation can't keep up with the body heat, on top of Nevada summer. Did I say hot? The checkin staff was very accommodating, as were food service and casino staff. The self-parking garage was very easy to use and had plenty of space.

BMX event

Posted 20-Jul-2017
Pros: The room was big and clean and the shower and bathroom was very nice
Cons: Fridge in the room without an additional charge since there is already a resort fee charged per night in additional to the room cost
Location: We stayed at the hotel for the event did not go nearby
It was convenient for the event everything in one place. However the pool area was overcrowded during the event. Also the hotel, casino and event area was evacuated due to a security issued not sure what it was but it went very smoothly evacuating a large event and hotel with no issues.

Enjoyed our stay. Love the pool! Love the coupon book! Love the reasonable prices for food and other items that can be purchased at the casino.

Better than What We Expected

Posted 17-Jul-2017
Pros: Huge room, free valet parking, the Gym, casino layout better spaced between slots & tables than some hotels at Strip. More value for your money.
Cons: The quality of foods in the buffet...will do a separate review.
Location: Very easy to access to the freeway which means you can easily go anywhere by skipping the traffic.
The moment we stepped inside our room, we smiled - spacious, clean, enough lights, and floor to ceiling windows wall to wall, unexpectedly huge room. We checked-In July 1st around 4 PM with only a few people in the line. We asked a room close to elevator and we got what we requested, in a few minutes we were inside our perfect room. We were given a booklet of discount coupons for each of us upon check-in, it includes 1 free show, 50% off to Buffet, free bottle of wine with order of 2 entrees, glass of wine, free soup, etc., etc. They have a $5 steak at Coronado Cafe at midnight, will include photo here. Too much to do and see in this hotel that even 4 days stay here we only used a few of our coupons. Will do a separate review of their Buffet and Restaurants. Will we stay here again? Absolutely! We enjoyed our stay and glad I switched our Wynn reservation for South Point.

Nice casino.

Would stay here again. Only thing wrong for us was my husband has a bad heart and walking to the elevator was to much for him so he didn't leave the room till we left.

If you want to be away from the strip

Posted 16-Jul-2017
Pros: Garden Buffet
Cons: Beds- please update the mattress- they are too hard
Location: Location is right on if you want to be away from the busy vegas strip. Close to the premium outlets and IHOP.
Spent 4 nights here to celebrate my wife's birthday and was disappointed that when asked for a room with a view, we were given a room facing a wall...literally, a WALL. The room was large and clean- no fridge unless you want to pay a daily fee Bathroom amenities were nice upon check in but I had to ask for a top off of decaf coffee and condiments daily. Casino is average with lots of machines and tables to choose from. Garden Buffet was great- worth the money for sure on a friday night for Prime rib and crab legs. Ice cream shop- while the ice cream is delicious, service is HORRIBLE. Waited over 30 minutes in line just to get a smoothie or a scoop of ice cream. One girl working the station and the lineups were huge.
