We chose The Clarion Strasburg for its location to Sight & Sound. I read the previous reviews, but was very surprised when we got to our 2 rooms. One room seemed clean, but the other was definitely NOT clean. It smelled like a wet dog and there was hair on the carpet. There was hair in the tub, a dead cricket, piece of food and a hair bead by the bed and the desk was so high, that it was unusable unless you stood up. The furniture was outdated, very scratched and or screwed back together. One bed was so close to the wall, that you either had to climb over the foot of the bed or risk rubbing the dirty wall and unplugging the surge strip for the tv. Which would probably explain why the mattress dipped to one side. The drop ceiling tiles were flimsy and moved when the door opened and closed and some were even missing. Anything that was wooden outside, was nearly, if not completely rotted thru and had just been repeatedly painted rather than replaced. We had to park very far from our room. The breakfast was minimal and basic, but did offer make your own waffles and some cereal. The toasters did not work well and had to be pushed down 2-3 times to toast a slice of bread. The upside was that the property felt safe and the staff was nice. I would not go back.

The appeared clean but when you closer the room was not cleaned very well. The hotel is older and worn. Needed updating and painting. Breakfast was not very good, not much offered.

This is a beautiful historic property, at the tip of being run down. I've never before seen a bathroom with rusted and/or moldy spots painted over with white paint, including the bathroom drain and around the shower head. The breakfast is substandard: egg patties that cost a little over $.44 per patty, cereal and milk, but no bananas, no pastries, no bagels, but cream cheese, discount white bread, powdered coffee creamer. They did have two waffle makers, so have to give them credit for that and real butter. There were apples too. The room had a little coffee maker but unless you like black coffee you're out of luck. That being said let me complement them on the linens, which were very nice. The location is quiet, with nearby fields on one side and a housing development, but not in a heavily trafficked area. Cleanliness good except for corners. There is a small fridge in the room and a microwave. The fridge worked fine but I didn't use the microwave. I wish I had stayed at this place at an earlier time.

Clarion is pet friendly which is a huge plus for us. However, the room was a very smelly upon arrival. Glass and mirror surfaces were visibly smudged. Staying one night we sucked it up, but these are not the most pleasant rooms. On the plus side, there is plenty of space to walk the dog. We wish others would be courteous enough to pick up after their pet. Par for the course in this day and age. Hotel proximity to The Fireside pub is great. Great food, great atmosphere. Hotel is very close to other attractions minutes away; American Music Theater, Sights and Sound, Bird In Hand, Kitchen Kettle Village, Dutch Wonderland, Outlets, etc.

Room was dirty. Breakfast was false advertisement- included only cereal and coffee. Called front desk on our cell phone since room phone did not work. Asked for additional toilet tissue and said we have to pick it up at the front desk the next day. Our room card was turned off 3 hours before checkout and we had to find housekeeping to get back in. Never stay here again

Have stayed here several times before. Receptionist was friendly and check-in was efficient. Grabbed a cup of coffee from their coffee machine before heading to the room. They opened the breakfast area back up, so breakfast is included. The room we stayed in was fine. Did have two minor issues. One was a number of ants in the bathroom area. The other issue was that the bathtub did not drain properly. Took about 10 minutes after a shower for it to completely drain. But as we were gone most of the day, these problems were not that big an issue. Will stay there again though as it is conveniently located, and has adequate parking. There is also a wonderful restaurant/bar located next door.

This is an older property so, it’s not really slick. But, it was very clean, the bedding was very comfortable and it was very quiet at night. The furnishings are dated, the tv was small and the continental breakfast was not really appealing. But, again, for one or two nights, it’s doable when you at the prices of other hotels on the same block.

The property was surprisingly nice and the rooms were larger than I expected. The staff was friendly and they let me check in 2 hours early. The free breakfast was good (sausage, eggs, potatoes, waffles, cereal). Our room was clean and had a nice flat screen TV and the bed was pretty comfortable. All in all, I plan on booking here again next visit this summer.

While the bathroom was clean, and everything looked tidy, the sheets smelled of bo, like they hadn't been washed after the last guest, or several. Breakfast was a joke: the juice dispenser only spit out water and there was no hot food available. Ended up checking out a day early and did not receive a refund for my unused day since I prepaid. It was not a good experience.

A true gem
A lovely area, the view beautiful. The building/complex are older which I enjoyed, the bathtub could use a few touch ups in the glazing,a few spots on carpet, but for the price I will definitely be back! With a little extra TLC this place could really be amazing! The general manager was great!

Cold showers, not acceptable!
I have stayed here many times with my 2 dogs and generally have no issues! This trip I had cold showers both mornings. When I called with concern on the first morning, I was told to just turn off the water, wait a couple of minutes and all would be well! It wasn’t. The next morning started out warm but lasted less than a minute after I stepped into the shower!

NEEDS REPAIR BUT STILL A PLEASANT STAY
Everyone was very nice and pleasant. The room was comfortable. Could use a night light in the bathroom. Our room needed some renovation to say the least. The headboards were extremely damages, there was mold everywhere in the bathroom and big gaping plaster damage by the tub. Would be nice to have a table & chairs in the room to play cards or have a snack instead of a desk. TV stand was extremely worn out. Such a shame because the breakfast is nice and the people are so friendly. Breakfast room is freezing and the sunporch is worse. Would be nice to have a space heater in there for winter months.

Thick layer of soap scum in the bath tub. Mildew on the tub walls. Unusable. Dust behind doors and on furniture. I am surprised that Clarion allows this in a property that bears their name. Sad, because a great location.

The staff were very friendly and professional. The room left a lot to be desired. There were stains on the bathroom floor by the toilet and a big stain on the rug between the beds that looked like candle wax or worse.
