Nice hotel for groups

Posted 2-Jan-2016
Everything was great except the beds are extremely uncomfortable you can fee the springs. If you are looking for a place to stay close to the strip with a large group of people for a reasonable price, it was great.

Location is the only positive thing

Posted 2-Jan-2016
Location is the only positive thing about this hotel. Breakfast was terrible. Room cleaning is basic and hardly done. Had to request toilet papers even after the housekeeper said she finished the room cleaning. Couldn't believe that she didn't notice and I had to bring to her attention.

I am sorry to hear about your feedback with the level of service you experienced with your room. We usually have a great experience with condition as our rooms are renovated, clean and in good working order. I am pulling the details of your stay and I will get with my team to correct. Always consider us your Basecamp here in South Lake Tahoe. Thank you for your stay and feedback, Yours in Hospitality, Michael Peña General Manager Michael@Basecamptahoesouth.com

Great place to chill and relax

Posted 22-Dec-2015
Pros: The friendly staff, modern amenities, location, and hangout spots.
Cons: Would have liked a bigger shower, but it worked.
Location: Walking distance to Heavenly Village, the lake, casinos, movies, shops and restaurants.
Basecamp was awesome! The kids loved it and want to come back. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with all of our needs. The room was nice. The shower is a stand in, so a little small but it was made up by the bath products that are complimentary. Spa like quality, very nice. This place must be the place to be in the Spring and Summer. They have so many patios, fire pits, and hangout spots. We definitely want to come back when it's warmer so we can hang out. The location is perfect. You can walk to Heavenly Village, shops, restaurants and the lake.

Stylish and fun

Posted 30-Nov-2015
We loved our stay at Basecamp. They have taken an old motel and turned it into something really cool. Modern yet rustic, clean and stylish. The lobby is a great place to hang out in the huge leather couches, with the "fire" burning nearby. The rooms are well appointed, the beds comfortable, and the staff were everything you could hope for: friendly, professional and very helpful. The hotel is mere steps away from the backdoor of Harvey's casino, and an easy walk to the Heavenly gondola. A+!!

Awesome spot- walking distance to beach & casino

Posted 25-Nov-2015
Pros: The tiny ice chest were adorable and useful. The staff was rad. The breakfast was tasty! And, coffee/tea all day- much appreciated.
Location: We walked to the beach in 5 minutes- awesome. We went to the casinos a lot- they are right across the street, it was great. Good food + beer nearby.
Got there on a Thursday and left on a Sunday- each day was awesome! The staff went above and beyond. We especially loved being able to watch football in the beer garden. They had great food, beer on tap AND let us bring in outside food as well. We spent a lot of our time on the Basecamp grounds- we especially loved the fire pits and hot tub. Our bunk room was awesome. There were 4 of us, and it was great. Could have easily fit another 1-2 people. The room was clean and well decorated. The wifi also worked perfectly in our room, beer garden and lobby. A few us had to work remotely, and did it with ease. We will for sure be back. We love Basecamp!

Just Okay...

Posted 24-Nov-2015
We visited Basecamp on the 21st of November, upon pulling down the sheets we were greeted by what appeared to be a bed bug. I immediately googled "bed bugs" and found that it was a match. Went to the front office and the employee agreed that it did in fact appear to be a bed bug. She was very courteous and immediately put us in another room without any hesitation. Our second room appeared to be clean and no signs of any bed bugs. Went to use the restroom and there was dried urine on the seat as well as pubic hairs. At this point it was too late in the evening to drive home. The hotel itself was nice, recently refurbished. The hotel staff was very friendly and they did refund the stay. My expectations were such that I knew it wasn't a five star resort, I was told that they did an inspection of the room we stayed in as well as others and no other bed bugs were found. This may have been an isolated incident however this was our experience.

I am sorry to hear about your experience. Our pest control program has verified our rooms as pest free inclusive of bed bugs. As we are not professional and in the field of identifying insects we know that there are many similarities among the variants of bugs. We leave the details to professional who work in pest control every day. Sorry to hear about the bug that was in your bed. I have corrected the issue with room inspectors and room attendants. A clean room is a clean room and we must ensure it always. Thank you for your stay and I wish you all the best in your travels.
