A LITTLE ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD: The Rumbling Bald Resort is absolutely beautiful. In the mountains and on Lake Lure at the same time. The views are amazing. It is definitely a "get away from it all" kind of place, yet full of fun things to do if you choose to participate. Quaint mountain towns nearby with lots of places to hike, horseback ride, zip lining, rock climbing, boating and fishing for those that like to commune with nature and be outside. ACCESS TO HOUSE AND RESORT: The guests have full access to the house except for the owner's closets. There are 2 flights of stairs to get into the house. Door access is keyless. The resort is gated. Be prepared to tell the guard the property address upon arrival. Guests have full access to the Rumbling Bald Resort amenities with their included guest passes. SOME RESORT AMENITIES REQUIRE A SMALL FEE, such as mini-golf and course golf, boat rentals and tours, and spa services such as massages, hair styling, facials, nails, etc. If you rent equipment such as tennis racquets, pickle ball paddles, etc there is a small fee. Bring your own to avoid those fees. There are many activities that require no fee, so enjoy! ABOUT THE HOUSE AND THE AREA: šŸ˜„Mountain A'Lure sits up on the side of Rumbling Bald Mountain. It has beautiful mountain views when the leaves are shed but it is also very pretty and private when the leaves are there. Fall is beautiful with the changing colors. šŸThe house has a wrap around porch to take in all the beauty, parking for 4-5 vehicles and is a short 2 mile golf cart or car ride down to the amenities. The house has 4 bedrooms, all with king sized beds, and one of the four bedrooms also has a queen in the room in addition to the king. One king bedroom is on the main floor, two bedrooms are upstairs (one room with a king and the other with a king bed AND a queen bed AND the fold up bed) and on the ground level (bottom floor) is the fourth king bedroom. There are 3 full bathrooms and 2 half bathrooms. For the babies there is a pack and play, a high chair and a gate for the stairs. The kitchen is open to the dining area, sunroom and living room. The living room has a fireplace usable in the cooler months. A family/game room on the ground level which leads you out to the 6 person hot tub and our newly built stone patio complete with a stone fireplace to roast marshmallows and spend some time looking at the stars and enjoying the fire. TRANSIT: Car, golf cart within the resort, hiking and mountain biking. THE FINER DETAILS OF YOUR STAY: House is Hosted by Booking5StarStays (Owner/Host) The house, hot tub, and resort amenities are ready and waiting for you to take your mountain escape! The house was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed, from linens, to household basics. The golf cart and hot tub were awesome additions that the kids loved. We had plenty of space for kids and adults to spread out and have fun once we were in for the night. Adults agreed that these were some of the most comfortable vacation home beds weā€™d slept in. Having the golf cart is wonderful for traveling down the mountain to enjoy Lake Lure and all the amenities of the Rumbling Bald Resort. Karen was an excellent host. The location was beautiful and the house was very comfortable and clean. It was perfect for my wife, me and our three adult children and spouses to relax and enjoy time together! We all had plenty of space. We were able to all fit at the table for family meals. The covered deck and outside area was very nice. This place was cleaner than any home we've stayed in. Loved that. With no leaves in winter, the views were beautiful. We cooked in and the kitchen was very well stocked. Love the "sunroom" for TV watching. All communications before and during our stay were quickly responded to. The only issue we had was that one shower control wouldn't allow for a hot shower and the owner handled immediately. Very impressed with the logistics. This is a beautiful, very comfortable, home I'd highly recommend. Oh, and there was a bear in the far part of the back yard, down the hill, the second night. That was way cool! Ran into some issues which were shared with host. 1. The grill had several pieces of used charcoal and ashes left in it before we arrived. Rules stated a fine if we leave it this way. Response from host: we are getting a new grill. Ok? 2. The steps from basement to main floor were spotty, Iā€™m thinking a dog or pet left these spots but just not cleaned and I didnā€™t want my little fur babies to be blamed for this. 3. By the stone fire place, the front bench had a big break in the middle of it. It looks like it was cracked and someone tried to put the broken piece in the hole to make it unnoticeable. 4. We were awaken by 2 howling dogs at the nearby house on the hill first two mornings around 6am and one night at 1am. Iā€™m not sure if this was a rental or a full time residents home. I know this is something a host canā€™t control. We did ask gate person at entrance to send someone up to talk to them. We never heard it again. 5. Burner on the stove was dirty and was the cooktop area. My mom and I took the grid covers off and scrubbed but front right burner looked stained. We got the food crumbs and dirt areas clean but I feel like this was overlooked by the cleaners. 6. My daughter said one of the remotes in the basement had something sticky on the bottom of it. 7. Plastic candy or mint wrappers were found throughout sunroom, upstairs bedrooms and closets. 8. We saw a mouse by the hot tub and it ran under the deck at the house. My husband saw it later that evening or possibly a different one. 9. There was a spill in upstairs bedroom from previous renter or occupant. Ants were found on bedside table. Also, on stairs in basementā€¦ 10. Blinds would not work in upstairs room so my mom was awaken by sunlight early each morning. 11. Dirty, used napkins were in napkin holder on island. 12. Internet and tv issues- too many to mention but did not help with our relaxation. 13. I was charged $60 for optional travel insurance. Host refunded after a couple conversations but they said itā€™s required but not anywhere in listing. 14. All amenities at rumbling Bald are NOT INCLUDED, as stated in listing and questioned prior to booking. 15. We liked the home and location but the 5 pages of aggressive rules were an immediate turn off. I wouldnā€™t return because of this alone.
