Property is in a scenic setting close to Lake. Had eclectic decor which we loved. Staff Mr. Paul was very kind and helped us to call and lodge complaint when I lost my cell phone in train. They also had amazing beveled station! I would definitely stay there in my next trip.

A beautiful old hotel but beds were hard, mattresses thin and no kettle/tea available in the room (it was available at a central location in another building). Dinner in the restaurant was extremely expensive and not of high quality.

HIGHLY recommend!!! The staff was so friendly and the hotel is so welcoming and comfortable, with great views of the lake! Also in a great location, close to Lucerne. I will definitely be coming back!!!

Charming but not practical
The venue from the outside is amazing; has lots of character and charm. The room however, was extremely dark. The chandeler was too big and long for the low ceiling and hardly made any difference when it was on. I understand that hotel lighting is always dim but we literally had to use our mobile torches if we wanted to take anything out of our suitcase or if we had to look for something. The heater was extremely loud. It literally kept us awake for the entire 3 nights we were there. The restaurant was very good although very expensive.

Lucerne adventure
The room was rustic (cabin-like) and when service was requested at 8PM, it couldn’t be accommodated until the next day. The maid service was good. The restaurant had very good food and service. We would find other accommodations if we returned, but return for dinner!

This is a really nice traditional Swiss chalet in a lovely lake location. The location would be perfect if you like to hike or climb the nearby mountain, or chill. For me it wasn’t as great as I needed to be in Lucerne each day for tours leaving from there, and there’s only 1 train an hour (31 min past the hour). Also on a story day there was no train at all and buses are scarce - it cost me 20 Swiss francs to take a 7 min taxi ride 10km. So I should have stayed in Lucerne but I was misled by Expedia. The note about the hotel said that they arrange airport shuttles, so I assumed transportation was more sophisticated. Beware: they don’t arrange anything like that. The room was lovely, if very dark. Very large, 4 beds and loads of space. The creaky floors were a problem as I was awaken throughout you the night and early morning - at one point the noisy floorboards made me sure that there was someone in the room with me! The restaurant was ok but extremely expensive - beware the cost of whiskey, the priciest I have ever paid! Food was ok, not fantastic. Service was ok, uneven. One waiter being lovely, the girl who originally saw me being horrible. When I arrived there was a palaver as the girl at reception couldn’t find my booking. She wasn’t very polite. Eventually all was well, but it spoiled my first impression. The hotel arranged a taxi for me from Meggen on the day there were no trains. They also allowed me to check out a little late.

The Swiss-Chalet Lodge is a charming Old World accommodation with stunning views of Lake Lucerne and the surrounding mountains. It is exceptionally clean and well maintained, with the convenient and lovely options of the on-site bar and restaurant. Like the rest of Switzerland, though, we found the bar and restaurant expensive. The breakfast buffet, albeit abundant, varied, and of quality, was 25 CHF. Still, no regrets!

Fancy upscale antique flare hotel. Beds only okay. Great breakfast and very good evening bar. A great place to stay ten minutes from Lucerne.

Old hotel
The rooms are basic with no bathroom and too much noise from restaurant, bar and the chalet is old so it makes noise when walk. Old bed, awful pillows. The hotel is near the lake with spectacular view and excellent breakfast not included. The staff was kind and nice. The wifi only works near the reception.

This is a traditional chalet built in the 1600s. Electricity and running water were obviously added at a later date along with a shared toilet and shower. That's what you get. It's a charming throw back to another time. No luxuries of the modern day hotel room, but tremendous charm and memorably unique.

We booked 3 rooms for 2 nights. None of the room had a safe as promised by the receptionist at the time of check in. One of the room had malfunctioning door lock which were reported to receptionist, however not repaired for the duration of the stay. At check out I were informed that the hotel is aware of the issue but not been told at the check in. Pillows were particularly bad. Rooms were hot without proper ventilation.

Charming, authentic Chalet-- with a lovely area of private access to Lake Lucerne where we watched the swans and ducks and enjoyed the magnificent views. Drawbacks are the shared bath facilities for Chalet rooms, street noise, and hard mattresses. The breakfast bar was excellent. But dinner options are very pricey. We enjoyed a beautiful walk above the chalet where we could mingle with the clanging sheep and cows. Memorable experience! Glad we stayed here.

Everything was good except the beds. The beds was like you sleep over a playwood, next day you have back ache. But the staff was friendly, the restaurant food was excellent and the place very nice.

I had an incredible experience this past winter. The staff was incredible and accommodating. The town was so beautiful, me and my brothers just decided to hike around rather than go into Lucerne. The sauna is appreciated beyond words during the winter. 10 out of 10 would do again!

Lovely old building
Nice opportunity to see the inside of one of those huge old chalets, but avoid the Economy rooms as they are quite cramped and only have a washbasin - the shower and toilet are out in the hallway and shared with others, Obviously we did not study the fine print carefully enough and wished we had paid more to have a nicer room. Also, breakfast is not included and is an eye-popping 25 Fr per person. We toured Austria and Switzerland for 2 weeks and a wonderful breakfast buffet was normally included in the room price (even in central Vienna). On the couple of other occasions we paid separately it was the equivalent of 12 - 15 Fr. I'm sure it is a sumptuous buffet but for those of us who don't eat an elaborate breakfast they should offer a "continental" version at a lower price. We took our business to the Coop in the next town and bought supplies for breakfast in our room. The hotel is contained in several buildings on the side of the lake though the chalet itself is across the road from there. It probably has nice facilities that we did not explore as we used it for accessing the city of Lucerne. It is an easy run in from there by car, also the rail line passes close by.

The hotel is in two parts. The Schloss hotel is right on Lake Luzerne and is very picturesque. The Chalet Lodge is opposite the street, with old Swiss style rooms, cottages, a little cramped for space. Unfortunately, the service leaves a lot to be desired, especially when asked about any amenities. The rooms do not have AC, and can get sultry in the summer.

Avoid during summer
Please do not stay in this hotel during Summer, it is really hot with poor ventilation. Room service gave me a fan which was not working and their service is not good. On a positive side, their break fast is good.
