Good location, staff very helpful, breakfast was good also with plenty of selection. Loved the pool and hot tub room. Bedroom was a bit tired though, air con was super hot even on a cool setting and room suffered because of it.

Enjoyed our four-night stay at the Kompas. It’s close to all of Bled’s bars restaurants and the lake. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Room was no-frills but good. Got a lot of use out of our balcony. The swimming pool/jacuzzi is a good spot to relax after a hike to the castle or a run round the lake.

Mucb better than I had antipated.
The hotel was better than i had expected. Recently refurbished bedroom and breakfast room. Bathroom was original but immaculately clean and lots of hot water from a powerful shower. Nice towels and bed linens. Breakfast was a great choice with freshly brewed coffee and tea options. The locstion is ideal for the lake and for town. Just a few minutes walk from both. Plenty of free parking too which is a blessing in Bled. If you are considerinh booking do it. We had a lake view room on the 2nd floor.

Lovely location but uncomfortable rooms
The hotel is in a perfect location for Lake Bled. I had a nice room, recently refurbished (excluding the bathroom). But it was extremely warm - the ac controls were useless. There was a portable unit but it was extremely loud. The bed was one of the most uncomfortable I have slept on. The staff were, however, very helpful when I had any questions.

Not what I’d hoped for
The hotel itself was good, pool area huge, exercise rooms good, breakfast had lots of choices. The staff was helpful and friendly. Our room was behind a facade so absolutely no view of anything. I don’t know if that was a hotel choice or because we booked through hotels.com. Maybe they give lesser rooms to guests that book with slightly discounted rooms. There was a banging noise that could be heard during the day but luckily not at night. All in all, I would say I could stay there again but not in that room.

The room had stains on the wall and carpeting and the shower leaked. Additionally, the laundry service woke us up each morning at 4am. I would not recommend anyone to stay here.

Summer break.
We had a wonderful stay. We had a room with a view of the lake and the castle which was lovely. I used the pool while my husband hired a bike. The pool isn't huge. I would not have been able to swim if there were more than half a dozen people using it. The hotel was ideally situated to walk to the castlr, cable car, food. We walked around the lake which was very easy. We took a bus to the gorge, a trip well worth doing, the bus is a few minutes was from the hotel. We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights znd then travelled by bus to Ljubljana for two nights, again very easy to do. We had a wonderful time and hotel kompas was perfect.

This property is at a very nice location, centrally located to restaurants and the lake. However, I was bummed that "Lakefront" actually means a partial view blocked by other hotels/buildings. The bathroom is also very dated and our shower head broke on me the first time using it. The water pressure is great but we could only use it at half power of else the shower head would fall off.

Excellent service from Lucia on reception - expertly answered our many questions with bus timetables, directions, restaurant recommendations, etc etc. Lake view room was stunning. Pool / sauna etc area fab. Location perfect.

Rundown but convenient
Hotel Kompas was located perfectly close to the lake, but the overall hotel was a bit rundown. I'd class the hotel closer to a 3 star. Super friendly staff and great buffet breakfast.

Great hotel in Bled
Great location, amazingly friendly & helpful staff... really exceptional in all areas from front desk to patio service. Room was comfortable & clean. The property is a little “tired”.... some new carpeting would go a long way to help.

I’m quite torn on reviewing this hotel. So I’m just going to list the positive and negative points below and let the reader decide: Positive Points: -Very Nice Staff -Great Breakfast -Fantastic Location -Comfortable Bed -Spa is great—lovely masseurs Negative Points: -Walls are very thin. I was in room 408 and could hear the conversations in the adjoining room clear as day. I’m not a light sleeper either, but had trouble sleeping do to this. -Rooms are extremely warm. We propped open the door to cool it off. -Rooms need to be updated -Water temperature goes from warm to cold quickly

A nice place to stay, smaller balcony than we were expecting. Pool was lovely and warm. Could offer more to do of an evening and would have room to offer games area eg pool, and our room pictures showed a bath tub but we received a shower. Good breakfast.

Sketchy in that Eastern-European Slavic way
I wish I could post pictures. First off this is not a 4 star hotel by Western European or American standards. It is too old and has too many problems to earn that status. It isn't horrible, but in that typically Eastern-European Slavic way everything is just a little bit messed up, just a little bit off from the way it should be. For example, they chose white carpets for the whole hotel, white carpets which are now horribly stained from the hallways to the bedrooms. I'm sure they looked good, for about a week. The hallways are not quite level and not quite straight. And there are other architectural failures, like some rooms that don't have balconies or proper windows. Oh, and then the mold in the shower. And the peeling paint on the ceiling. And the insanely loud bathroom fan that is clearly broken. Peek under or behind any piece of furniture and you're going to find a lot of dust and dirt. They do not properly clean these rooms. 10 Euro to use the sauna, 15 Euro to have a pet with you, crib charge, etc. They stick you with charges everywhere they can. Again in Slavic fashion, the gym is old but effective. You can actually lift heavy in this gym and do squats and deadlifts. It isn't one of those "cardio and 10 kilo dumbbells only" type Western gyms. So that's nice.

CHECK YOUR ROOM SPECIFICATION WHEN BOOKING!!!!
We booked double room with park view, in October for travel in July; to ensure availability. When we were given a small room (half the size of double rooms alongside, with a single balcony (one chair and a small table) plus car park view; we complained to the reception; saying it was a "single" room. No real apology, "no it's a double" "Hotel's full we cannot offer another room" . No senior management contacted us, we feel the original hotel design, as they cater for coach parties, had single rooms. Now designated "doubles, the room had been reworked recently with an excellent new bathroom. Although hotel denied this was the case.Just look at the photos. The room was kept very clean, by a lovely lady(the only member of staff who said good morning with a smile, the breakfast /dining area was tired. Tables were left with dirty plates for far too long and breakfast choice, for the hotel cost, not up to the standard expected. Expedia offered a small credit, having notified them at the start of our stay, DO CHECK THAT YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU EXPECT.
