GREAT LOCATION AND DOG-FRIENDLY! This is a beautiful, quiet, and serene Christian-themed apartment that consists of the entire second floor of a charming Dutch colonial home in the northern Michigan countryside. It is on a dirt road about a 5 minute drive north from downtown Lake Ann. It has a large living room, large bedroom, and room A/C. Also includes a private balcony overlooking the countryside as well as its own bonfire ring with outdoor chairs. It provides a lovely getaway to all that Northern Michigan has to offer! GUEST INTERACTION: The property owners live on the first floor and are available to address any questions or issues. They also co-ordinate check-in. NEIGHBORHOOD: Lake Ann is a cute little northern Michigan town that has a very quaint old-time general store, a microbrewery, post office, and several cute shops and restaurants. The lake itself is quite beautiful and serene and there are nature trails that run along it as well as public parks on the lake. The geographic location of Lake Ann makes it great central point for exploring Traverse City to the east, the Leelanau Peninsula to the north, Sleeping Bear Dunes to the northwest, and Crystal Lake, Beulah, Frankfort, Elberta, and Lake Michigan beaches to the west. All of these locations are within a 45-minute drive from the cottage! THE SPACE: The apartment is very traditional in terms of décor with an up-north country theme throughout the apartment. The apartment is dog-friendly and up to 2 dogs are permitted with a pet fee. There are some trails on the property for walking dogs as well. The property owners are a lovely retired couple that live on the first floor of the house. The husband works part-time as a church pastor. They coordinate guest stays. (We provide you with their contact information after a reservation is made.) TRANSIT: Public transportation in the area is limited, so it is highly recommended that guests have their own vehicle. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: 1) PET POLICY: The apartment is pet-friendly and up to 2 dogs are allowed. (Pit bulls, rottweilers, and cats are not permitted.) Dogs must not be left alone in the apartment by themselves though. If bringing 1 or 2 dogs, please make certain that they are included on the reservation and that the pet fee is appropriately paid. More than 2 dogs is strictly prohibited and any pets other than dogs are also strictly prohibited. 2) LIMITED AIR CONDITIONING: Please note that there is a window A/C unit for the bedroom, but that this will not cool the entire apartment. Outside of the bedroom, the apartment may get warm if it is warm outside. 3) EARLY CHECK-IN: Our policy is to allow early check-in on the day of arrival if the property is available for check-in. We will not know until the day before arrival whether or not the property will be available for early check-in or not. You can check with our local property manager the day before arrival or on your arrival day to see if the property will be available for early check-in or not. 4) LATE CHECK-OUT: We maintain a very strict and structured cleaning schedule. The only warning I will give renters is that this is a small kitchen and cooking supplies are minimal as a result. I only saw 3 fry pans and 2 small sauce pans in the pictures so I brought a few items from my kitchen with me (my soup pot and, of course, my instant pot). It all worked out great. The place was easy to find, with clear check-in/check out instructions. This is the sweetest home with the sweetest owners!! I traveled by myself but the same was large enough with separate rooms and lovely covered outdoor patio. Overall the apartment lacked in cleanliness, the bathroom shower was extremely tiny (we could not bend over to wash our legs/feet without hitting our rear end on the back of the shower wall and we are very small women), the apartment had several things that were in need of repair or should have been repaire properly but were not, lighting was poor (for reading and putting on make-up), and issues presented to the owner's daughter were not resolved without repeated follow up and involvement on our part. Communication with owner's daughter was not the best (owner was elderly so daughter stepped in to assist). Primary issues were leaking/faulty toilet, beetles in our bed at night & a resident mouse in the living room. Nearby Lake Ann has nightly outdoor music through the summer The extraordinary Sleeping Bear Dunes is 22 minutes away. There are a steps to go up to the apartment, so keep that in mind, but it was very manageable for us. It was fine, though a little inconvenient. But after that little snafu, everything was great! It was a nice location, especially for the price. Once we got past the initial issue, the place was clean, comfortable, felt safe and secure, and was in a very nice up north-type area. It was perfect for our stay! ##### Sue K. I had reserved this property but had zero communication from the property manager from the time of reservation until the day before check-in. I had tried to contact someone regarding my reservation, to no avail. As I was traveling alone, I decided I was uncomfortable with the situation and I canceled. Unfortunately, I had paid in full for an entire week, including fees, and lost all of my money. Fortunately, I found a much nicer property in a nearby location, on the water, with very hospitable property managers. ##### Andrea R.
