So now you save more monet staying at Papakea! Book with no fear the government will cancel your booking and you lose your payment as described below: We are very sorry that the Maui Government is trying to use fear tactics to get the short term rentals to give up our homes to help solve their mistakes. In January we had to opportunity to speak with some very influential people here, and they assured us there is nothing the government can do to force us to convert to long term. If these people are incorrect, and the government was able to force us to cancel your booking, then your booking would be refunded regardless of the refund policy. Lahaina fires were a tragedy, but even worse, most of the locals are now out of a job, and it is because 80% of the west side economy is based on tourists. We need you, and we need you to book ASAP, any place on the North West Side of Maui. Please help us get the locals back to work, Thank you! This home is a rare configuration at Papakea. There are at most 2 in each building. I am talking about a top floor, 3 bedroom (including the large loft) home with the master bedroom having wall to wall windows that allow you to see the ocean, pool, putting green, and Koi pond the same view as the Lanai! This is the most desired configuration in the resort. These are beautiful 2011, again in 2014, and again in 2017 renovated three bedroom (one bedroom is a large loft), two bath with vaulted ceilings on the 4th/top floor at the fantastic Papakea Resort! Our Condo's remodels in August 2011 was by well known high end Builder/Designer Mike Harvey. You will not believe how great it turned out as the pictures do not do this unit justice (again see reviews :-) ). The kitchen's are decked out with “Exotic wood” cabinets accented with all Stainless Steel Appliances and Gorgeous Granite counter tops. The bedroom's have been furnished with the same high end furniture used in the top hotels in Kaanapali Beach. Imagine waking up from your king bed in the morning and looking out your bedroom window and seeing a serene Koi pond, lush green lawns with putting green, with the back drop of a whale filled turquoise ocean, nothing closer to heaven! The second bedroom has been outfitted with a Queen Bed with the same high end furniture (the whole unit has these great furnishings). The third bedroom, the loft, stands at top of a classic spiral staircase. It is a giant space so it has both a queen bed and two twin beds and a queen folding mattress you can unfold and make up into a queen bed, just in case you need to add two more people to your party allowing up to 10 people. Second renovation included state of the art mini-split multi-zoned A/C. The only A/C you should demand from your rental. Each room has its own register and it can actually pull the humidity out of the room and cool, VERY FAST! No more waiting all day just to get the room 2 degrees cooler! We also put in wood floors in the bedrooms and loft (SOME PICTURES STILL HAVE OLD CARPETING IN THEM). See below for reasons, they are important. Third renovation is adding new French Sliding doors to the Lanai, and tiling the Lanai! (Pictures may still have old Lanai doors and no tiles on them). State of the art KEYLESS Entry system. Now you can walk on the beach, swim, play and not have to carry an annoying key or key card with you. Your whole party will have access and you can not forget your key inside. Papakea resort is a beautifully landscaped, low-rise complex of 4 story buildings on 13 acres at north end of Kaanapali Beach. It Includes 2 swimming pools, 12 barbecues, 2 spa's, 2 shuffleboards, 3 lighted tennis courts, 2 putting greens, and many more Extras!!! This condo is not only perfect for your family vacation but also great for family reunions, weddings, etc. You will not find this any where else on Maui!!! Great deal!! Please note that some dates may require minimum stays, which is why emailing us first will help you greatly. WHY RENOVATION 2.0 and 3.0: To some this second renovation may not seem like much, but in Hawaii, these costs were very significant. In fact the cost of just these two items on this second renovation was more than 25% of the first renovation’s cost! The new A/C was because our past guest were given a chance to tell us their top recommendations for our home. The most common was the A/C. The issue, these wall units do not remove the humidity very well, take many hours to cool, and then only seem to cool a couple of degrees. They also leak a lot of water because the water they take out of the air, they put into a pan on the bottom of the A/C expecting evaporation to remove (which does not), which has its own set of issues. After installing and using the new units, we can say that nobody should ever have the other style or even no A/C. We use them very little ourselves, but sometimes removing the humidity from the air makes a world of difference in comfort. And to do it, you only need to run the A/C in that one room for a short amount of time, not all day! As for the carpets, well that was the second most recommendation. Although we all love carpets, there are two issues that came up, one is they look dirty too easily and make the place look not as nice, second is the environment is already very warm, and it is nicer to have a cooler feeling under your feet. Not to mention that the wood floors are just so much richer looking. The sliding doors from the original build do not operate easily, and can not be repaired because the tracks malformed with time. Almost all the units at Papakea have this issue, so expect this to be a problem if the units have not been updated. As you read our reviews, you will see that we pride ourselves on doing our best to provide one of the best, if not the best, vacation experience you can have. VRBO's quick booking business philosophy does not create both the trust between you the guest and us the Owners. This trust is why you see that we have one of the most reviewed units. The resort is very well cared for. It has many activities and amenities that we took advantage of-- we particularly loved the shuffle board and mini golf. We snorkeled right off the resort and saw turtles, fish and an octopus. The unit itself is well laid out. We had very little need for the AC units but having them was a perk. The kitchen was well stocked and aside from no scissors, there was nothing else we wished we had. The use of their beach chairs and boogie boards was so nice! The room had everything we needed, you know when you say, I wonder if they gave this or that...the answer was yes. The resort has activities each day, a Mai Tai hour. We had all the ammenities we needed. We arrived late so lots closed but we were prepared. Brian was very easy to work with during the entire process, and provided clear and thorough information regarding everything we needed to know as we prepared for our trip. The condo is in a beautifully maintained resort with friendly staff, great activities and an amazing location. The beach is a very short walk, as are several restaurants and a grocery store. The condo was clean and suited our needs just great! There were plenty of beds for all of us! The kitchen was stocked well including spices and such from other guests to get us started. Plenty of soaps, shampoos, toilet paper.and laundry soap. So many nice touches. Papakea resort was beautiful as well. The kids loved the swimming pool! The beach steps away had shady spots while we played in the ocean for the days we didn’t want to drive anywhere. Communication with the owner was spot on! ##### Kristine E. The layout is spacious and carpets have been replaced with hard surface flooring so it is easy to clean. The ocean and garden views are nice and it is also north facing so does not get very overheated by direct sun. The unit is well equipped with boogie board and beach items. The kitchen is sufficiently equipped (even has some sharp knives which is almost unheard of). Owners were prompt in responding to questions. My two daughters and son in-laws enjoyed the privacy of their own bedrooms while my two grandchildren and I enjoyed the loft. The unit was very clean and stocked with everything we needed. Our view if the coy pond, pool and beach from the unit was great too. My grandkids ages 7 and 9 LOVED the pool. Brian was excellent in communicating all thru the booking and stay. Kitchen has plenty of plates, silverware, cooking utensils and even Tupperware. We spent tons of time on the patio just watching the whales. Property is beautiful. We walked to kaanapali beach, shopping and food trucks. We played pickleball every day. The condo cooled down very quickly just with the use of one a/c. We ended up having to find a new condo after our existing reservation at another locale was cancelled a few weeks before our trip. This was a great find! Lovely view from the master bedroom and lanai of the grounds and ocean. We could hear the ocean waves at night from the bedroom. Kitchen a bit cramped when multiple people were around, but we made do. Great grilling facilities in the complex. Condo could use a few more pots and sharpened knives. The unit was just as depicted, and was a perfect fit for our family of 5, plus Grandma. All the necessary kitchen items were there to make everything that we desired, and were in relatively good shape. The unit also had beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, and a cooler to make our daily excursions to the beach that much more fun. The property had a decent pool, and the kids really enjoyed the outdoor shuffleboard and putting green that was first come first serve. Brian was easy to get a hold of and very quick to respond with any questions we had. All in all, a great Spring Break stay and we would absolutely book again! ##### Helen & Brian W.
